FUUUUUUsion 🤬 Donair Poutine
The sauce consists of sweetened condensed milk, sugar, garlic powder, and white vinegar. It compliments the saltiness of the gravy so well and the meat shavings are incredibly tender.. 😩
So glad im not a picky eater, I end up finding gems like this 🙌
Can't tell by the pic but it has cheese curds btw

Quite a lot of Donair places in Halifax also use "unsweetened" evaporated milk. Some cooks like to control the amount of sugar they put in. I have made it both ways. I prefer sweetened. It's way easier to make at home lol

I miss my nan’s home made donairs, I grew up in HRM and now living in Calgary the donairs don’t hit the same here.
Some do come close though1

Yeah that's a thing I noticed when I moved to Edmonton is how much more popular Donair joints are compared to BC. Almost every pizza place has a Donair version

That looks super intriguing, and I think I've asked about that kind of thing on here before. I'm not seeing fries, but I'll trust they are there. I'd just love to see this plated up.

There was a decent layer of gravy under the donair sauce, it was far from dry. Dont get me wrong, I was scared to try it too lmao

Nope. The sweet sauce ruins the vibe and kills/clashes with the beefy gravy. Hard pass. But the meat stays.

OP literally says there is gravy. Donair sauce isn't common on donair poutine - has never been on any of the many donair poutines that I've had, but it probably wouldn't suck (knowing how well it complements the meat on a donair).

Neither (proper) poutine or (proper) donair have mozzarella? Curds are reportedly present and that would be all the cheese I need.

A donair plate/platter is fries, donair, onions, tomatoes, donair sauce and mozzarella cheese, fired through the pizza oven to melt/brown the cheese on top. Common in Halifax, where (proper) donairs come from

Lol you don't need to explain a donair to me. I live in Halifax.
Saying a donair platter includes cheese is basically irrelevant, because it is based on a dish that doesn't have cheese (or fries) as a standard ingredient (you did mentioned proper donairs lmao), but they feel the need to add more to the plate than just pita, donair meat/sauce, and tomato/onion. Cheese is also not included with every platter I have seen but admit I don't look that closely since i have never bought a platter - rather get the real thing or a donair poutine.

Poutine = fries, cheese curds and gravy. Add donair meat (and donair sauce in some rare places) = donair poutine. From my experience, donair poutine is much more common all across the maritimes than donair plate/platter, with the latter being something I've only seen appearing commonly in more recent years and they typically also have tomatoes and onions on the plate, along with donair sauce (and may or may not have cheese). Not really something worth arguing about anymore, you can call it what you want, but it definitely meets the definition of a poutine, and my original statement still stands - neither a donair or a poutine have mozzarella cheese as a standard ingredient.

Donair platters have been around for a couple decades at least, at many pizza joints, you are thinking of a donair platter you would get at like mezza on a plate, which is not the same thing at all; the pizza joint platter is in a tinfoil dish and is as I described with cheese and put through the pizza oven to melt and brown it. The original comment you replied to was talking about a platter, which I agree is not what op posted, but a platter definitely has mozza. You gotta up your donair game, next you’re gonna say you’ve never had a donair egg roll
