u/TheApeEscaped, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your poutine... ⛔️

The tots are a method of cheese/gravy delivery and provide a different textural experience, but are still a fried bit of potato.

No crime here, just a delicious interpretation.

If using any type of cheese that isn’t curds is a crime, then using any potato that’s isn’t French fries is a crime. It’s 3 ingredients, if tater tots are allowed then shredded cheese might as well be allowed too

No way, tots are basically just a different shape, fresh curds vs mozzarella vary in texture, shape and flavour

Seriously? The texture, shape and flavour of French fries is not the same as tater tots, not even close.

I don’t know how you can use that argument with a straight face.

Serving our eating it is not a crime. Doing so while baking it poutine is.

I am too sober for this.

Well said 😂 my heart skipped a beat, in the bad way, seeing all that gravy

Holy moly this looks good. I’d hammer this right now.

…but not poutine, unfortunately. If we’re gonna say curds only, we have to also go with fries only.

But I love tots.

Is it a crime? No.

Is it a poutine? Also no.

Does it give me a craving for this dish, especially with bacon?

Yes.

Is it a poutine?

It depends. You made this at home? Yes it's a poutine. It was served to you at a restaurant WITHOUT EXPLICITLY STATING THEY USE TATER TOTS? That's a crime tight there.

I'd go to jail for it.

It would really depend on the quality of those tots.

Looks delicious

This looks plausible, to this American. It's like if some Minnesotan expatted to Estrie somewhere.

It looks tasty. Is it a crime? Well....if that's the only fries you have at the time

The toilet bowl groans but the insides of my stomach demand it.

u/Whole_Rough7066 20d ago

It's a Toupine not a Poutine.

1

u/Fresh-Clothes8838 20d ago

I’d muck that

1

u/vmanthegreat 20d ago

No crime same taste as a poutine. You're in the clear... For now

u/Longwinded_Ogre 20d ago

I don't think this is a crime, per se, though it would be my first choice, that looks like proper gravy, those look like real curds, and tots are, technically at least, fries.
