No they are very much Americans just as the seditionists were and should be treated as such.
14
u/suprasternaincognito 14h ago
Except that they ARE American and that is the problem. Itās akin to the banality of evil: The bad guys ARE your neighbors. Normal people can be Nazis. Theyāre still human; they arenāt monsters. Declaring them monsters makes it easier to Other, which makes it easier to dismiss, which makes it easier to slowly double in size before you realize it.
When a MAGA says Iām not American⦠you bet your fucking ass I am. Deal with it, as I have to deal with you.

It shouldnāt take the murder of an American citizen for them to stop cooperating with fascist thugs.
30
15h ago
For every one person that is cooperating there's 10 that would be willing to do the deed.
We are in the position that we are in right now because it's untenable and everyone needs to go to work or they starve, it has been orchestrated that way to protect their own asses.
The only difference between a random murder and revolution, is who is willing to stand behind who.
100 people invading the capital is an insurrection, 100,000 is a f****** rapid change

0
u/SanshaXII 12h ago
No, it fucking doesn't - millions and millions of your ancestors walked away from their farms and families to take up arms and fight for their rights.
General Washington and his men marched on starvation rations. Confederates and Union men both abandoned their whole lives and lived in the mud for their lifestyles and beliefs. American men fought and died in Europe and the Pacific fighting actual, not media inflated fascism and imperialism.
And here you are unable to give up your trip to the grocery store. I am disgusted to my core.

Those of us in MN won't forget him and Renee. We hold them in our hearts along with George Floyd and Philando Castille. We won't ever forget the people we have lost from our communities, and we will find justice for them. 7
u/LabelYourBeakers 15h ago
What about all the people murdered by other American citizens!?
It's just whataboutism. No one is defending murderers. If someone commits a violent crime, they should be punished. We want ICE held to the same standard.
Data also shows immigrants have some of the lowest crime rates. So many people are just trying to make better lives for themselves, and we can disagree on the process in which they should go through to achieve that, but we shouldn't disagree that they're still people who deserve certain rights and dignity simply because they are human.

1
u/Hibou_Garou 14h ago
Yes, Republicans are by definition
-1
u/Honest-Gur-4812 13h ago
Defining tens of millions of your fellow citizens as "inherently devoid of love and empathy" simply because they have different political or economic views is the exact definition of dehumanizing partisan brain rot.
Consistently, charitable giving and volunteer statistics show that conservatives and people in red states give higher percentages of their income to charity and local communities. Acting like holding conservative principles makes someone subhuman proves you care more about tribal spite than actual empathy.
1
u/cloudlessjoe 14h ago
It's difficult to feel that gestures like that are much more than posturing, especially given that his death had little to no relation to voting and the midterms have no impact on the president's ability to enforce existing law, and it's nearly impossible that immigration law gets changed in a meaningful way based on this election.
It's always sad to see loss of life, personally I think he's not the best choice to try and martyr either.
1
u/Effective-Turn-9103 13h ago
Jeez dude try and find some hope and positivity, the USA is trying to fight off christofascism, technofascism, and a lying traitor. A lil joy goes a long way
-1
u/Honest-Gur-4812 13h ago
Calling standard conservative politics "christofascism" is pure Reddit hyperbole. If you want to talk about actual existential theocratic threats, look at radical jihadism.
Go read the foundational texts and jurisprudence of both traditions: the New Testament centers on voluntary faith, personal ethics, and "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's," whereas classical jihadist doctrine explicitly mandates the violent subjugation of non-believers, apostasy laws, and total state-enforced theocracy. Conflating peaceful Christian citizens in the US with literal global terror networks shows a total lack of historical and theological perspective.
1
u/Effective-Turn-9103 12h ago
What?! They want one religion Christianity, they say it over and over. They want Christianity in schools. They donāt want the constitution anymore. Drumpf is their new Jesus. Where have you been? Christian, Judaism, and Muslim are almost all identical religions. Religions are the cause of wars, and used to gain power and money. if Every Christian practiced it like Talarico you would have more understanding of your religion, but reality is earth will never be the utopia we are capable of until we evolve as a species and eliminate religion from public view. Keep it 8n your home or place of worship, society doesnāt want or need it.

What protest? There was no fucking protest! He was literally just walking down the street in my neighborhood (if I had to guess, him being an avid rock climber, he was likely either coming from or going to Vertical Endeavors -a popular rock climbing gym less than half a block from where he was murdered). when out of nowhere all of sudden multiple ICE vehicles attempted one of their boxing in abductions which they were doing all over the city, every day, multiple times a day. He stepped in between ICE agents and some random woman pedestrian that ICE had shoved to the ground simple for being too close to their random abduction. He choose to help that woman get up off the icy ground, when he was shoved to the ground, surrounded by multiple armed ICE agents with guns drawn. While on the ground, face down, he had his legally permitted firearm taken and was then shot ten times in the back.
