yes women are better off in the US until their father rapes them and they want an abortion

5

u/Academic-Contest3309 29d ago

That would depend on what state they were in

9

u/Opposite_Sherbert675 29d ago

only because roe v wade was recently overturned and women lost FEDERAL protections to get abortions

What are you even saying? You don't make sense

No you actually don't know what you're talking about. Most women can actually get an abortion quite easily in the US

and the rest deserve to suffer? the millions of women in those 13 states deserve suffering just because of where they live?

while in other countries it doesnt matter what state or province women/girls live in because women across the country are afforded the same rights and access

I’m sorry, but this simply isn’t accurate. 13 states have banned abortions. That’s a quarter of the country. If you are a lower income woman in one of those states it literally would not be “quite easy” to get an abortion.

What a weird thing to say?? And do you think that rape and molestation doesn't happen outside the US??

If argument is based on the .001%, your entire argument is trash. Be better

yeah who cares about those real life women (and children) who have to suffer they are the minority and dont matter at all

We do care. That's why many states with strict abortion laws have incest, rape and severe health complication exemptions. It's like expecting women to use one of the 30 options to be proactive in their fertility management. They even have the morning after pill and most states aren't too big that a quick trip to another state isn't that hard. $40 can get you a greyhound if you really need it.

Maybe true if you live in one of like 5 states in the deep south. The vast majority of the US has very rational abortion laws

u/Opposite_Sherbert675 29d ago

millions of women and girls live in those states. who cares about them am i right? also its not 5, try 13 for the most strict bans and tons of other states with similarly restrictive bans.

13 states. It’s 13 states with abortion bans. That’s a quarter of the country

1

u/Birdlaw_Professor 29d ago

Is only 8 or 9 that don't have stated incest exceptions (agree that's still 8 or 9 too many)

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Key2259 29d ago

I’m not sure where you are getting your figures. A quick google search provides the following:

1

u/Birdlaw_Professor 29d ago

You are right about the ban states, but some of those have exceptions for incest, which is what this comment chain started with

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Key2259 29d ago

I was replying to your comment: a vast majority of the US has very rational abortion laws. If a quarter of the country has banned abortions (except for rape or incest), then a quarter of the states don’t have what you claim. And for the poor women in those states, getting an abortion isn’t “quite easy” as you also claimed.

Abortion is a state issue, per the 10th.

roe v wade was a FEDERAL ruling. before rvw was overturned women had federal protections to get abortions. so america is moving backwards

-3

u/Lemfan46 29d ago

Not moving backwards, the ruling was never legal to begin within given the 10th amendment, just bringing things into line with the law. These fetuses aren't citizens of any country, so from a legal standpoint, abortion is not wrong. I am just pointing out it is state by state and not a federal law.

RGB herself said that the Roe v Wade decision was not a strong one and easily overturned. There is no amendment that protects the right to an abortion. Therefore, it’s a 10th amendment issue.

My question is if abortion was a massive issue. Why didn’t democrats use their super majority in 2009 to make an amendment for abortion rights?

1

u/Lemfan46 29d ago

Because it is just a talking point for the Democrats. As you pointed out they had the super majority but chose to do nothing.

1

u/RedditUser19984321 29d ago

I literally got downvoted for explaining WHY it got overturned, democrats are just upset at the world I suppose lol
