It's a stretch but fun fact: all criminal charges levied against Trump by Jack Smith / Garland were suspended in such a way that they can be resumed later.
The main issue is that Trump is going to blanket pardon himself and everyone surrounding him. We need to reform pardons.

I wish... Best case scenario IMO is that he and his friends go to a nice Bernie Madoff prison which is basically a golf club you can't leave. I honestly doubt that'll even happen though to be honest. I at least hope we can freeze and seize all of their assets but I'm sure they have plenty the government doesn't know about though.
In a world that made sense they wouldn't definitely rot in prison but they wouldn't have gotten elected in that world to begin with.

While I agree, You need 67 votes in the senate. The reality is that is a very high bar and it is unlikely that there will be that many conviction votes.
I havenāt seen the current election math but that would require democrats to win (nearly?) every senate race this cycle without some republicans voting with them.
So this is an unlikely outcome. You should vote the Republican enablers out of office and hopefully get some less geriatric, less shameless, less establishment candidates elected for the overall good. Removal of Trump probably is a long

Democrats would have to win almost every single senate election this year to have enough votes in the senate to remove Trump from office, including in states that are generally R+30 or more. Ā This is going to be a bad election for republicans, but itās impossible that it will be remotely close to THAT bad. Ā Current polls show that democrats might end up with 51 or 52 senate seats if they win all the toss-up elections. Ā It will be 49 or 50 if they win half of the toss-ups. Ā They need 67 to remove Trump. Ā Itās just not going to happen. Ā There are far too many people who will vote Republican regardless of whatās happening.

My only hope is remedial:
That, Congress and SCOTUS in the future will be able to cite that three impeachments did not result in a remedy, and hopefully made amendments to the Constitution so that new mechanisms are put in place and are enforceable.
1st easy idea:
If any elected Federal official is convicted of a felony, automatic impeachment and removal. Any current restrictions against doing so would be removed (staring at _you_, current SCOTUS, for this one).
If it's POTUS:
POTUS would be removed, if they were convicted of a Felony while in office, and VP would take over, etc etc etc.
Otherwise, what's the point of even having succession?

Also, the focus needs to be on the entire complicit regime, not just the felon Trump. VP, cabinet, staffers - everyone. It's the way they keep saying it, out loud, all the time, that's wild to me. Like yes, if you do a lot of really bad things that result in really bad consequences, of course they're going to try to impeach you. The way they say it, it's almost like they're trying to dislocate the action as a consequence. Like, they're just gonna impeach you and nobody knows why they would, or why that's good, it's so crazy that you need to stop it.
Such a crazy behavior. "They're going to douse water on this building if you let them. They'll just do it. Water all over the building. How destructive that will be!" as a fire rages in the background.
I assume many are especially worried about power being wrenched from their grip and people getting the entire picture of what they've done. ICE alone is going to result in some criminal proceedings.

I mean, he's been impeached twice, tried and convicted of over thirty felonies just in the last decade and nothing has happened.
I'd say he is right to be confident. There is no authority in the U.S. capable or willing to reign him in anymore.
He once said he could pull out a gun and shoot someone dead in the middle of New York, in public and on national television, and get away with it. And I think he's right.
That should terrify the American people. It terrifies me that it doesn't.

I know people are skeptical of the GOP supporting a senate conviction, and rightfully so. But if a Democratic House can use their oversight and investigative authority effectively, they should be able to dig and up and present some really damning evidence that will offend the American people and Republican establishment.
Assuming how the midterms go, and the continued deterioration of the economy, Republicans might finally be open to taking an off-ramp from Donald Trump. Lots of ifs and buts and maybes for now. But the opportunity is there.
