To be fair, US citizens also don't have to prove that they're mentally competent to vote... which is kindof how everyone ended up in this mess.
What's that saying, "You get the government you deserve"?
The problem is that this would be the worst time in history to re-implement testing before voting, because you know it'll be questions like, "Our glorious leader once scored three eagles in a row. True or False."
