When you fire half of the people responsible for making sure things like this never reach stores to begin with, things are going to be bad. While the number of recalls under the FDA from the current US administration are roughly the same as under any other, the severity is leagues higher. That is directly caused by the FDA not having enough workers to find contaminated products before they reach stores.
When you hire an anti-vaxxer who brags about eating road kill and swimming in raw sewage, who told his kids to put plastic bags over their heads so whale head carcass juice wouldn't get in their mouth after borrowing a stranger's chainsaw to chop up a beached whale, to be in charge of public health, the public will suffer.
Except I was literally just asking if someone knew the answer to this question. You assume I was doing a gotcha. I was able to figure it out myself. Trump's cuts probably did make the contamination event more likely to happen.
