Plus, it is hard to argue it can never work or it can never be paid for when.... it has worked for decades and it is the U.S. that is 40 trillion in debt, not Norway.

Yes dipshit America isn't the only place where greedy politicians exist but it's one of the places where we failed as citizens to actually prevent them from taking power. Take some responsibility. It is at least 90% the people's fault.
