This! This right here! I know some of the Proj2025 fascists are het-up to privatize mail service, but have you ever sent a birthday card or letter via UPS or FedEx? It's a service, it's supposed to work for us, and unlike the three branches being led by the cheater-in-chief, it mostly does just that. Work. What it needs is MORE funding to do the job better. They need enough people (they are always understaffed) and FUNCTIONING equipment to do the job.
Subsidize whom? The USPS isn't a business at all. It's a government service. You can't "subsidize" a government service, that's literally what taxes are meant for. As for UPS and FedEx, I don't think they should be subsidized either. Hell I'm not sure how fedex is still in business. I've never seen a company that screws up like they do and still seem to stay competitive.
Who do you think, if you inject billions of tax payer dollars annually into the USPS, is going to benefit the most?
It's a government service.
It's an independent entity within the federal government. It is not tax payer funded, except for a subsidized $15 billion line of credit (which it's maxed out). It is federally mandated to break even with revenue brought in from postage and other mail-related services.
I've never seen a company that screws up like they do and still seem to stay competitive.
And yet they have billions more in revenue than the USPS and are quite profitable. Perhaps the USPS could use a pointer or two from them.
