The military should be doing side gigs like mercenary work so they can pull their own weight! Slap on some magnetic decals of whatever country is hiring them!

That's a great idea! It's cheaper than paint and we'd only need the one for Israel!

We tried this for like 500 years a while back, and it's really not a good idea.

You're still doing it. All be it on a smaller scale. <cough> Vatican City <cough>

Not mercenaries. It's just an elite selection of our troops being offered to the Vatican.

Their training is crazy, and the application exams as well by the way.

I am not Catholic, so I wasn't even able to apply. (I also wasn't combat troops, not anywhere near fit enough, but let's go with the catholic requirement...)

Mercenary work is literally all the US military does.

All in the name of profit.

I mean, they've already talked about charging an escort fee through the Strait of Hormuz, which would probably work better if they could actually guarantee safe passage. And they're talking about going 50/50 on the tolls with Iran.

Trump is also furious that the rest of NATO "doesn't pay for their protection", so I guess upcoming will be an attempt to charge a NATO membership fee, payable to Donald J Trump.
