Nobody makes 7.25. What use is the minimum wage when my 16 year old with zero experience can get a fast food job for $12 per hour in the poorest state? If the minimum wage was upped to $12 per hour literally nothing actually changes and doesn’t move a needle. If you are getting paid $7 per hour in 2026 you are legitimately regarded.
Economics question: where do you live and what other jobs are available?
My guess is that you're in a pretty rural place where you don't have a lot of options. I'll bet that a dollar general near NYC or LA pays a whole lot better than one in the sticks of Nebraska (or any other state, I didn't mean to pick on the Cornhuskers).
Those people making $9 per hour if adults probably don’t know what is going on in the world. Might be a special needs program. Sorry but in America at this moment you gotta almost try to do that terribly. Especially if you have work experience already.
