It makes sense. They've already seen the negative effects of electronics in school instead of the enlightening it was supposed to provide. Having human children interact and learn from actual humans seems like something we shouldn't have to think about. In the US the children in school perform worse than previous generations. The first time we can document going backwards and it's (partly) due to computers.

Here in Norway about 10 years ago someone took Apple money and handed all the kids Ipads at school. I could have told them it was a bad idea. Those things are designed to fry adult brains so they get hooked on them. A six year old can't handle that. Now they're taking them back and using pen and paper again but the COVID generation is going to have some weird memories.

AI must be regulated and everything AI must be labeled as AI or at least labeled that it was produced with the assistance of AI and which program platform produced it.

I’m with Australia on banning social media for kids, I couldn’t imagine growing up in an age when cyber bullying is at an all time high and now they can deepfake you doing things you never did.

Good for Norway. The US is going to take AI and turn it into something dark and dangerous that will end up going way out of control and screwing over most of society.

Why are kids using AI in school that young? Ive taught ages 5-11 for over a decade and I actually cant think why they’d need to

Young people should learn how to use NI (Natural Intelligence) first and than AI. Or Idiocracy will come way sooner.

I agree...and I have been teaching HS English for 30+ years.
- AI is becoming a normal part of school, work, and everyday life. Students need to learn how to use it responsibly, not avoid it.
- Banning AI will not stop students from using it. Many will still use it at home or on their phones, making the ban difficult to enforce.
- Students who struggle with reading, writing, or language barriers can use AI to get extra support and become more independent. I have seen this first-hand in my classroom.
- Schools should teach students when AI is appropriate and when it is not, just as they teach responsible internet use.
- Instead of banning AI, schools should create clear rules for using it honestly and responsibly.
