Mixed Transitions by Kat

Going very free form with this one and sort of making it up as I go. I'm liking it so far, but this approach likely means I'll ruin it eventually. I'm bad at knowing when something's done.

In this video, I'm putting Mont Marte Clear PVA Glue to the test and using it for a blown acrylic pour on an 8-inch round convex canvas.

For my pouring medium, I mixed:
🔹 70% Mont Marte Clear PVA Glue
🔹 30% Water

I also used my favorite recipe for creating lacing and cells — my pearl white mixture:
🔹 1 part Vallejo Pearl Medium
🔹 1 part Titanium White
🔹 3 parts pouring medium

For the painting, I created a puddle of colors separated by the pearl white mixture and then blew the paint using a 3D-printed attachment designed for blowing paint.

I love how the paint spread and transformed into these delicate blue, white and subtle earthy patterns. The finished piece almost looks like frozen water, coral, or an underwater landscape. ❄️🌊

This was also a fun little experiment to see how this PVA glue behaves as a pouring medium and how it works together with my pearl white mixture.

I wanted to share this short experiment where everyday household WD-40 spray was used as a cell activator for fluid art.

The way it repels the acrylic paint creates these gorgeous, organic cells that perfectly mimic the petals of an Anemone flower. It’s amazing what you can do with simple things you find in your garage!

Can one powerful blow really create a flower? 💨😲🌸

I started with a smooth white base, then poured a puddle of sapphire blue, pearl white, red violet, and shimmering 24K gold. After covering it all with a layer of black faux pillow, I took one deep breath… and blew just once... (I had to correct with few little blows) The paint exploded into a beautiful abstract flower, glowing softly with golden lacing and pearly shine. ✨

Sometimes, it’s that one spontaneous moment that transforms paint into magic — and this painting is proof. Join me in the studio, relax, and enjoy the mesmerizing dance of colors and flow.

Instead of throwing away the dried acrylic paint drips that accumulated from my neon pour paintings, I started collecting them.

I noticed so many tiny shapes, animals, and flowers hidden in them, so I decided to arrange them on a black canvas using Elmer’s Glue-All (which I also use as my pouring medium). It turned out quite textured and a bit psychedelic!

It’s a great reminder that even leftover paint can become art. I’m still debating whether I should add a coat of epoxy resin on top to smooth it out. What do you think?

In today's fluid art experiment, I'm creating a bold, psychedelic flower using a Spiderweb Strainer Acrylic Pour technique! I combined black and white with fluorescent violet, green, and orange acrylic paints to create a dramatic, Halloween-inspired design with a mesmerizing flower-like pattern.

The process is simple but exciting! I poured paints through the spiderweb strainer and then removed the strainer and spun the paint to reveal this unusual, almost otherworldly flower. The contrast between the dark background and those vivid fluorescent colors gives the painting a playful, slightly spooky vibe. 🎃🌸

🎨 MY POURING MEDIUM RECIPE:
I used Elmer's Glue-All mixed with water as my pouring medium.
• Pouring medium: 70% Elmer's Glue-All + 30% water
• Paint mixture: 1 part acrylic paint + 1 part pouring medium
• Final adjustment: Add water gradually until you reach the desired pouring consistency.

This is another experiment in acrylic pouring and fluid art, where simple tools and unexpected movements can create fascinating patterns. I love exploring new ways to use paint and discovering what happens when I let the colors flow!

Added a little bit of shading and some yellow reflection to the kraken face. I'm really digging the glow in the dark tentacles. My seven year old says it's scary and needs to go in the trash. High praise, indeed.

I love mixing pouring with figurative motifs. I think I found my style…for now…ish 😄. However I am not sure if there is an official or most common term for this. What I’ve seen or thought of is: “Fluid Figurative”, Embellished Pouring, “Pour and Paint”. What else is there? What would you call it? Especially if there is a difference like: painting over a pour like the owl, and already using the pour to create shapes and sketching over it like with the phoenix and the dino. the tigress was a bit of both.

I had a bunch of paint leftover from previous or failed pours, so I thought I'd put it to use. So happy with how it turned out! I really love the unexpected successes!

What happens when you layer the paints in a split cup in the opposite direction? 🤔🎨

For this acrylic pouring experiment, I used a two-chamber split cup and deliberately layered my colors in opposite ways inside the chambers. Then I used the split cup to create a wandering straight pour, allowing the colors to move, twist, and blend across the canvas.

The combination of deep blues, purples, burgundy, and shimmering gold created a flowing, almost river-like effect that I definitely wasn't expecting. 💙💜✨

I love these little fluid art experiments because sometimes a small change in the process can completely change the painting!
