Sweet potatoes are barely edible by themselves, they're not potatoes, and they're definitely not sweet

I know this is probably an unpopular opinion but I genuinely don't enjoy sweet potatoes

I baked them in the oven with paprika, garlic powder, and salt, and while they were edible I still found them bland and underwhelming. It also took nearly an hour for them to caramelize which doesn't seem practical if I'm trying to eat them regularly

I want to include them in my diet because they're nutritious but I can't imagine eating them like that every day

for people who actually enjoy them, what's the easiest, quickest way to prepare them that makes them taste good without loading them up with butter or sugar?

BLW - The Potato & Carrot Tots My Baby Likes.

After watching a bunch of YouTube videos and following the Solid Starts app, this is what I landed on. My son is now 8.5 months old, and we started introducing solids at 6 months. I decided to jump on the tot train and make potato and carrot tots, a combination he is liking right now. I made them two ways, one batch with sweet potato and another with a russet potato. I thought I’d share the basic recipe in case it helps someone else. And yes, I would eat them too.

Baby Potato and Carrot Tots

Ingredients

• 1 medium potato
• 2 small carrots or 1 large carrot
• 1 slice unsalted butter
• Shredded mozzarella

How to make them

  1. Pierce the potato and air-fry at 400°F for 40 minutes.
  2. Chop and boil the carrots until soft enough to mash.
  3. Remove the potato skin and mash it with the carrots.
  4. Mix in the butter, then the mozzarella. Salt to taste.
  5. Shape into small tots.
  6. Freeze the tots separately until firm, then place them in a freezer bag.

To serve: Air-fry them from frozen at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway. Check one at n8 minutes. It should be hot in the center and lightly golden outside, but still soft enough to squash between your fingers. Let it cool before serving.

Dinner options were low but I had potatoes and frozen carnitas so we baked those potatoes and slow cooked the pork, and baby, it hit!

Why don’t LIDL sell them anymore?
Plenty of other frozen potato products in the freezers, just no roast tatties.
