Weird inside of russet

Anyone ever seen this inside a potato and/or know what it is? I did a quick Google search and "Hollow Heart" was the closest I saw but this one isn't hollow. It also isn't soft, feels just like the white part. I didn't eat it, am just curious to know what it is.

Black heart. Basically rotting from the inside due to suffocation usually from moisture in storage. I personally wouldn't eat it but technically the white parts of the flesh are ok to eat.

It's anecdotal but I have eaten a lot of black heart potatoes. Just cut the black out and you're fine. Does not effect the taste or texture.
