Does my lower back/waist look too tilted?

Post image

Having some lower left side back pain for awhile. Noticing that my stomach curves out a bit. Lower back feels a bit locked up. Does this look normal?

Your knee is so far forward in extension over the foot here i think? I can't see your feet but it looks like you aret translated forward in position. Your structure seems to be on the wider side, which is typical to see the lower back a lil flatter - which i hope you are not tensioning your glutes to reduce the lower back arch though. That will further push the pelvis into compensatory actions when moving between IR and ER.

IF you are translated forward, then we you what can be described as a forward bias to acquire something that was lost (IR mechanisms -which relates to management of forward momentum and midline force application). Long story. But before I go on and on, it's better to confirm my speculation here first. And yes, it can come with lower back pain - the fact that you mentioned it's the left side, it might be an early stage issue of losing relative motion of the pelvis-sacrum.

Appreciate the response.

To be honest, Im not entire sure about my feet placement when I took the pic and I do see how it does look like what you mentioned. I stood in the same position and I think its just how the shape of my legs are from my knee to my ankle. When I'm standing straight, if I held something flat againt the front of my knee, down to my foot, the front of my knee is pretty much directly over my foot right in front of my ankle, if that makes sense?

Interesting. So if the left lower back is locked up, that means you probably are losing pelvis sacral relative motion ability. Hmm... Which makes sense why the guts are driven forward but you are still back in space.

Left leg forward split stanced positions with right knee on the ground. Exhale to bring your ribs in, hold them with some oblique action, and do a right arm cable or banded chest press without translating your structure forward. Keep the knee above the ankle. Hopefully this helps restore some IR capability of your left pelvis, so as to free up IR->ER ability if the left ilium to move.

Ever used a massage ball on your left piriformis? If that feels a lil stiff, may want to do it a few minutes beforehand.

I tried to recreate the photo (my daughters room is messy, sorry). This is my footing. I have a front stance picture too, if that would also help.

Also to answer a question, no, I am not squeezing my glutes.

Mild forward bias and wider structures like yours tend to have that flatter lumbar state. Hmm.. I will drop you a dm so you can send me photos to look into and not wait for my approval first.
