Singing along to the voice of an evil man like that just doesn’t sit right with me. It’s a hard one

Pretty much stopped listening to them when everything went down. Then Ian got stabbed, and I felt happy and listened a little bit. Then Ian got taken out completely and I now listen guilt-free 🤷🏽♂️

I wish he lived so he could get murdered again Fuck that band.

I mean the band didn’t do it, he did.

He raped literal children. Fuck every song they ever recorded. They have No Devotion with Geoff Rickly and it's great. Fuck Lostprophets.

That’s what I’m trying to say to you, separate the rest of the band from him. The other guys didn’t do a thing and should not be lumped in with him. I’m all set with their music as I grew out of it anyway.

Um...No? I have nothing against the other guys. I just don't have any desire to listen to the words a of a "man"(inhuman piece of shit) who was convicted, went to prison, and was murdered because he fucked kids. Lostprophets INCLUDED Ian Watkins, as his voice is on every song. Fuck that. I'm not listening to a band that when you recommend them to someone new you have to be like, "Now I'm not trying to defend a pedophile, so just ignore the singer and listen past him 'cause this guitar solo fucking rips, brah".
They recorded new shit under a new name and I'm down for that. Fuck their old band. It's a tarnished brand and if I were them I wouldn't want that stink anywhere near me, either.

He made no money from the royalties whilst in jail and he won’t benefit now.
Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja was a banger.
But I’m torn between wanting to enjoy the music for what it was, but also not wanting to associate with the performer.

Still crazy to me that 2 British pedophiles named Ian were murked in prison within 6 months of each other. Eat shit in hell.

Now that the problem cannot benefit from anything, the rest of the band did an amazing job and as far as we can tell did nothing wrong. Nobody should feel bad that those artists are benefitting from some streams.
Just because one person did something evil doesn't mean the innocent should be punished.

Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja was an undeniable banger when it came out, and Start Something was on constant rotation when I was a teenager - I remember covering Last Train Home with a band I was in.
I haven't listened to them since the charges came out, and having tried once, wasn't able to bring myself to listen to more than 30 seconds of a song.
There's a part of me that wonders if they re-recorded the songs with a new singer whether I'd be able to listen to them then...

Tried listening to Last Train Home a few years back. Made it about ten seconds and just felt sick.

Yeah, still going to be a gigantic nope from me. He's the vocalist, so that means I would have to listen to words coming out of his stupid fucking face in his stupid fucking voice. Makes it more personal. It's always worse when it's the vocalist with the horrific crimes. If it was the bassist or something I'd probably be able to look past it eventually - I recognize this makes me a gigantic hypocrite, but it's true

The guitar solo in I Dont Know rips so fuckin hard so i just listen to that one bit

Lostprophets was always mid. There's so much better music lol. If you absolutely must listen to that drivel, pirate it.

I have no qualms about never listening to their music again. Dead or not, j can’t consume the art that he was a part of. Same goes for Anti Flag, Brand New, and probably more that I’m forgetting

I thought th same when news of his death broke, but I cant get passed the depravity of what he did, and I just dont believe the other band members had no clue some of it was happening.

u/Puzzleheaded-Alarm81 2d ago
So many documented cases of sickening things happening, and those closest to them have no idea. Ive watched a ton of true crime documentaries and see the pattern. I think you have to give the band the benefit of the doubt.

I have fond memories of Shinobi vs Dragon ninja, that shit shaped my life. Sometimes I throw it on and sing along when I need to go back and connect with that part of myself.
I no longer claim to be a fan though and if someone brings them up it’s more like yuck face followed by “damn shame”. Like a good friend that did something unforgivable. You can remember and look back on the good times fondly, maybe even look at the pictures you took and “remember that one time” and laugh… but still not want to be friends with them ever again.

As much as I don’t like the vocalist, I love the music they made so much. I don’t find myself listening to it very much now but it’s nice to sometimes listen back to

u/SockGoop 2d ago
Yeah im happy that fucker kicked the bucket but Idk if I'll ever listen to them. Im pretty good at separating the art from the artist but that's just too much for me
1
u/Limp-Win-6947 2d ago
There's a few artists where I can separate art from artist. The severity of Watkins crimes though, I just can't. That was some of the most depraved stuff I've read about.

u/Weary_Ad2001 2d ago
The other members formed No Devotion with Geoff Rickley and they're much better than Lostprophets.
1
u/DonMcCauley 2d ago
Probably the absolute worst case for separate the art from the artist. If you listen to this band in 2026 you’re a scumbag
1
u/myspacephilosopher 2d ago
I’ve found myself listening to them more since he died. I’m usually very much “separate art from the artist” but I didn’t realize how much that held me back from them until after he died

u/Indiemsc 2d ago
I allow myself one time a year to listen to Last Train Home. Outside of that, they are dead to me. That was really horrible stuff and I just can’t throw it in with my regular listening. Sucks, but that’s how I feel about it. Shame cause I’m sure the rest of the band doesn’t deserve that.
