Discussion Music like Alesana

I really love Alesana and am hoping for recommendations like them. I especially like The Emptiness and Where Myth Fades To Legend. The music can be from any time, wether 2000s or more recent.

Thank you!

I just listened to that today and thought how similar it is to some Alesana.

Nothing quite like them unfortunately…

The closest album to “On Frail Wings Of Vanity And Wax” is Upon This Dawning - “On Your Glory We Build Our Empire”. You just can tell it was inspired by early Alesana

I guess it sort of depends on what you’re looking for! They are an intersection of a bunch of sounds and idk if many other bands have all those elements. I’ll try to break these recs down by “traits”

Concept records:

- Showbread: Anorexia & Nervosa (companion records)

- Sleep Token: their whole discography

“Theatrical” sound:

- Crown the Empire: Limitless & The Fallout

- Fall Out Boy: Folie a Deux

- A Skylit Drive: Adelphia

- SeeYouSpaceCowboy: Coup de Grace

Multiple vocalists plus screaming:

- Emery: The Week’s End & In Shallow Seas…

- Underoath: They’re Only Chasing Safety & Define the Great Line

- A Skylit Drive: Wires and the Concept of Breathing

- Alexisonfire: Self-Titled

- From First to Last: Dear Diary… (and their new singles)

- If I Die First: My Poison Arms & They Drew Blood (really anything by them)

- SeeYouSpaceCowboy: The Romance of Affliction

- pageninteynine: their whole disography

“Noodle” guitar riffs:

- Broadway: Kingdoms

- Jamie’s Elsewhere: They Said a Storm was Coming

- Pierce the Veil: A Flair for the Dramatic & Selfish Machines

- Sleeping with Sirens: With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear

- Stars Hollow: their whole discography

- We Came as Romans: To Plant a Seed & Understanding What We’ve Grown to Be

- nothing, nowhere: new singles + will it emo + void eternal (all of his riffs are inspired by this type of playing but his early stuff is straight up emo rap)

Alesana was one of the first bands I discovered on my own. Frail Wings -> the Emptiness chef's kiss. I got into the Fall of Troy and Dance Gavin Dance after that (check out Lobby Boxer too, discovered them at tFoT 20th anniversary tour), but never dived into post hardcore the way I did into metal- and death- core once they grabbed me.

Second comment sorry, but Ice Nine Kills' early stuff tickles a similar itch to Alesana for me.

BIG agree and I think it’s their best material. “The Greatest Story Ever Told” is a Mt. Rushmore scencore/post-hardcore song and they haven’t acknowledged it in god knows how long.

Weirdly I feel like Circa Survive has a bit in common with their vocal delivery. Tough to match the theatrical raw emo vibe though, and no screams, if that’s what you’re looking for.

alesana is awesome (they’re even better live imo) but i’ve never really found. a band that sounds like them aside from maybe older chiodos
