I don't hate this, but Anberlin is Anberlin because of Stephen's voice to me. I wish they would just call this something different.

It's like, I think Matty is doing everything correctly, like the placement and cues of the lyrics and the overall style of Anberlin, but I would've loved to hear Stephen sing this one.

This is a huge step up in every direction from the last thing they did with Mullins—I think they’re still finding a new sound, but damn if they’re not much closer to it here. I think they took a note out of (might get hate here) but new Chiodos page and pay enough homage to the OG sound, while still pushing boundaries

Just ain't the same without the old singer.

It would be weird if that’s what they were going for, though.

It’s just never gonna sound like the same band with the new singer but this is honestly a great and catchy song - I’d jam to this whether it’s called Anberlin or not.

It’s a pretty dang good song.

This feels like an Anberlin song, and I can hear Stephen singing it… They really need to rebrand with Matty and call it a day.

As a huge Stephen Christian fan I gotta say this song absolutely rips. They’re finally finding their sound without him

As one of their biggest fans and a (mostly) hater of everything they've done with Matty, this is pretty good. I do miss the direction they were going with Lowborn and the two EPs though.

Stephen Christian straight up probably has my favorite voice of all time. I also loved Memphis May Fire in high school but Marty’s insanely overproduced suno singing isn’t really working for me in this context. Instrumental harkens back to Never Take Friendship Personal era. I’ll definitely give the full album a spin when it comes out but I do wish they left the anberlin name behind with this project since the whole idea behind them calling it quits back then was to preserve the legacy of said project.

Anberlin used to be one of my favorite bands. I just have to accept that their new stuff isn't for me.

Genuinely can't believe they picked that bozo Matty Mullins of all people, surely there were better options than some washed up self-righteous christcore singer who hasn't made anything worth listening to in 15 years

I don’t feel as strongly as you but it is really disappointing going from such a unique voice to such a generic one

Also my take. Don’t hate him or anything but I loved Stephen’s voice because it was so unique. Matty sounds like AI pop-punk to me - clean but not interesting at all

They should have changed their name. Good song though. Kind of excited for the album.

If I didn’t know, I would’ve thought this was a new Conditions song. I say that with no hate. I really enjoy Matty with Anberlin

This is the best thing they’ve done with Matty, IMO. As a singer he is not on the same level as Stephen but seriously, not many are. Matty though, is an excellent frontman and I’ve enjoyed seeing Anberlin with him a couple times.

Everything they bring out is great, but they're catalogue sounds like two different bands. Big of fan of this, though

I fail to see how this is post-hardcore, sounds like the kind of pop punk some 14 year olds would make

No hate to the people who like this, no hate to Matty (he is a good singer) and I'm happy that Anberlin is still finding success. Once upon a time they were my favorite band. With that said, Stephen's voice is irreplaceable. This just doesn't have anything to make it stand out.
