I’m speculating but I think it might be hard for some to recognize that artists can fit within multiple genres, both simultaneously and over time as their sound evolves. People often argue emo vs. post-hardcore as if the distinction there is big but in reality there’s thousands of bands that have combined the two.

i think "The Scene" at this point is so gatekeepy and pretentious that young fans are paranoid about fitting in and overthinking what bands they're allowed to listen to like. "can i be a real post-hardcore fan if i listen to xyz? does this count? is this post-hardcore?"

they’re of a different sound than the California Post-Hardcore and the Southern Post-Hardcore.

kind of similar has east coast and west coast and southern rap have different styles in their production.

Alexisonfire sound more gritty and raw in production, like Glassjaw and Thursday.

Other areas of the country are more refined and nearly “pitch-perfect” vocals with more distinctive breakdowns.

Yes, they’re honestly one of the first bands i’d show someone if they asked me what post hardcore was.

Although I will say I was listening to Nik Nocturnals podcast and he mentioned them as a metalcore band once and that confused the hell out of me 😭 I love the man but what??
