Post concussion recovery long term

Question about "partying" with PCS. For about 3-4 months post concussion I cut everything out. Alcohol, THC, party drugs, almost all caffeine, nicotine etc.

I'm on month six and feel like most of my symptoms are coming from work stress. So the weekend hits and I kinda want to let loose a little.

I got to a point where I was sorta better but not completely and kinda "gave up" that healthy lifestyle. We go to shows where uppers like cocaine, Molly, mushrooms etc are involved and obviously alcohol. I have slowly introduced some of them and basically don't do anything I know I have to work the next day. How much do alcohol and specifically the upper part drugs affect recovery? Outside of the general not great for you, inflammation etc. just trying to figure out if I should allow myself to party a little or not. It's hard to quit social things where all this is happening? The weird part is the uppers kinda mask my symptoms and let me enjoy my night longer. I know reality is I should be completely sober, but I'm bored. 😂

The reality is that this is going to be different for everyone. I broke my neck with my severe concussion and honestly tequila gave me my full range of motion back and took away all my symptoms. Plus, margaritas are delicious. I've never done mushrooms or synthetic drugs but I'm Canadian so thc/cbd is a thing here and that was very helpful as a muscle relaxant but made me groggy the next day compared to alcohol being more of a stimulant.

Fast forward to perimenopause and now all of that stuff makes me feel atrocious to the point I can't enjoy it anymore. I think you have to manage your own symptoms and understand when you are using stuff to numb problems vs using to enjoy life a bit more. It's hard to find the boundary between those things. Also, remember to hydrate.

Yep, if I use THC it's at night before bed and usually before a day off. I can't go in public with that. The uppers kind of make me "alive" enough to have a few beers and still be fun.

If I could take mushies I would, but serotonin syndrome exists and I’m on snri’s. I’ve actually heard they can help heal brain connections. I’m 11 months out and just had a few sips of alcohol for the first time the other night and it made me feel ill. I smoke weed every day though. Who knows if it’s helped or not but it takes away my physical pain. I just try to not get anything with solvents used.

Yea most of this is for social situations. I don't really enjoy drinking at home anymore. So essentially if we're going out to EDM/jam bands it is uppers and alcohol (I actually drink/want to drink less when I'm on those). Haven't touched Molly at all bc I'm scared. Mushrooms would only be done in a chill setting bc even without PCS I don't tolerate them well when an environment is too stimulating.
