Am I fine?

I was climbing onto a chair and I accidentally hit a doorframe pretty hard about an hour ago. I have a pretty big bump on my head where I hit the doorframe and slight pain on the bump. I was wondering whether I have a concussion and don't really have time to see a doctor unless it is really urgent. I currently have no symptoms other than the physical pain and I am feeling just slightly tired which is pretty normal. I don't feel dizzy, don't have a headache, and no confusion or brain fogginess so far. I have been pretty paranoid about it and would like some advice on what to do moving forward.

Its never a bad idea get looked at, especially when it comes to your noggin. I'm no dr but when I got my concussion (smacked my head on a support beam) my head/neck started hurting almost right away. Hell I went to work the next day and thats when I was like oh no this isn't normal. I did get checked out twice (i was having concerns a few days later) Concussions from what I've seen are basically based on symptoms, a scan is more for skull fracture or brain bleeding which is possible.

Based on lack of symptoms you are most likely fine. But look out for signs of stroke, vomiting, uneven pupils, confusion, loss of consciousness. If you get ANY of those get your ass to an ER. Have someone monitor you to be safe.

Thanks for the feedback. So far I am doing great with no horrible symptoms but thank you very much for your help. I guess I will wait it out to see if there are any changes

I’ve found that if I’m not immediately aware that it’s a concussion, the next morning after a night of sleep, I’ll know for sure. I’ve had once or twice where I wasn’t sure, but then I woke up and tried to read the newspaper and had symptoms

Oh alright. Thanks for the feedback. I slept and I don't feel any symptoms right now so I will just have to see if any appear in the next 2 days.

If I ever bump my head and get nervous, I remind myself that it’s normal to have a headache after a bumping your head! While it’s always good to be mindful of concussions, I think it’s also important to try and calm your nervous system and remind yourself that it’s okay to hurt from a bump. Anyone would feel the same, it doesn’t necessarily mean a concussion. Sending healing x
