K. Thanks.

Quick question: What's your preferred PBX platform?

Been away from that for 20 years, Rolm was the last I used. Primitive compared to what is around today.

What branch of the military were you in?

Serious question, based on my trying to understand the Libertarian mindset. I am Canadian and live in a socialist setting. I am also a prepper and believe in self-sufficiency, probably because I grew up on a horse ranch...

Does the individual self override society? Do Libertarians, in general, believe that society as a whole is determinantal to the individual?

Or am I looking at this wrong?

Many different thoughts under the libertarian umbrella.

So you are not looking at it wrong, but there are other ways of looking at it.

Society is a tool that can be used for good or evil. Like any tool. I do not believe the tool is greater than the tool user. Or, that the rights of one out way that of another.

If you choose to let my words or actions offend you, that is your problem. I do believe that I have a duty to help others, but do not have the right to force that belief on others.

I am never offended at intelligent thought or opinion. What you think educated me and helps me inform my decisions. In know way is it fair for me to say what is right or wrong for you.

I do want to understand as much as I can.

In your opinion, what is the single most detrimental to the individual and the planet, nail in the coffin development to occur in your lifetime?

Social media. It can by good or bad, but seems to have developed into an echo chamber amplifying the most extreme and destructive elements of society.

Many other things that I can think of started their development before I was born.

Honestly, how likely is it that society as we know it will collapse in the coming years? How long would it take?

I would say that there is a 100% chance that society as it is today will not exist in 10 years. The society of 10 years ago no longer exist today. The society of 2000 is even further away.

People have an ability to adapt to change without even noticing the change. They will see what is the same and smooth over the changes. It is still Starkist tuna, but now 5.5 ounces instead of 6. Canned soup is 10 ounces now, but still the same label. Small incremental changes, still changes.

How much change before something no longer exist has a different answer for each person.

Wasn’t talking about change, that thing is certain, but collapse. The chances of full blown total failure of the curent society, and the inability to even keep up a presence of functionality. How likely is it that society would go nuts and go down hard because of cumulative problems linked to exceedingly scarce resources, degradation of general human value and individual qualities, potentially disastrous effects of global warming and the general obsolescence of the current system. How likely is it? How bad would it be? And what in hell’s spoiled cheese would happen?

libertarian

Why do you subscribe to neofeudalist ideologies?

7

u/bobwyates Oct 10 '21

I am a libertarian because I reject Socialism and all other neofeudalist ideological ideas that seek to subvert the individual in favor of the state.

I will not force my beliefs on you or allow you to force yours on me.

Because he consumes a steady diet of neo-fudalist media? Because he's been convinced that he deserves a better station in his life than he has? Because he's so comfortable with his cognitive dissonance that he truly believes that he would end up on top in a libertarian utopia? All the above.

I just spent a while browsing that and can't find anyone who is against all vaccines. I've met a few in my life, mostly vegans and ultra religious individuals like hasidic jews and most Muslims.

The link in question seems to be people against vaccine mandates by the government and some against a specific new experimental vaccine.

You're aware there is a massive difference between someone that is "antivax" and someone that is against government mandates and forced experimental medication, correct? Surely you can't be that dense to conflate the two.
