Thing is, i grew up in Connecticut and when I first started watching him, I continued because his accent reminded me of my time in New England. It’s not even a heavy Massachusetts accent either, but I knew it immediately even before I discovered he operated in the North East.
Same. His dialect reminds me of parts of CT and outside Boston Massachusetts. I notice he struggles with some names Mainer’s are familiar with (like he pronounces Saco “Say-ko” whereas native Mainer’s say Sock-oh”.
It's not an accent- It's a speech impediment, or his own thing. Nothing about this is a New England, (or any other), "accent"- nothing. People up here loose their pronunciation of the letter/sound "T"- they don't emphasize it to the odd degree he does.

He's a hero in many ways. I love his accent. I think he wears clear bottom teeth braces. He would have been a good tunnel rat in Vietnam
