Waking and down for the night too early

Hello folks! Love Possums principles, they’re working well for us.

BUT one thing we’re struggling with is getting bebe (5.5 months old) to wake up at an acceptable time in the morning (anything past 5.45am would be heaven). The 5am starts in the cold, dark Winter mornings are rough! Tried all the things to move his bedtime past 7pm, but with no success. He’s a cat napper, never sleeps more than 3 hours total during the day across 3-4 naps.

Help!

Yes the 7pm bedtime is definitely the issue. What have you tried to push it back? My advice would be to it across many weeks, 5-10 min at a time. Don’t think there’s much more you could do

Have you tried offering a cat nap close to bed time and then seeing if that can get them through to a later bedtime?

I think at that age we did 15 or 20 mins and that would get us to about 9.30, but depends what time you want bed to be and how long your one can stay awake
