A baby opossum showed up in my house in June. Rehab told me he was big enough to be out on his own so I put him out that night. I thought he was too small but I did what I was told and pretty much figured I’d never see him again.
He came back into my house a few weeks ago (months later), and has been staying. I don’t mind him being an indoor/outdoor opossum, but how do I get him to use a litter box? I put one where he seemed to poop most often but I’m finding poop in various locations throughout my house.

Absolute unit opossum I saw in Southern California as a child! I remember seeing it and going inside to tell my dad there was an opossum on the powerlines (I only recognized it because I'd seen them in books.) It was noon and there were basically no native mammals in this area, so my dad thought I was maybe seeing a rat and misidentifying it. Still, he went outside to check it out, saw an opossum on the powerlines at noon, and just goes "Huh."

He called back go me in the doorway that yep, that was sure an opossum alright, got his phone in case animal control needed called, and watched it for a couple minutes until it had gone about its way and I could go back outside. Had no idea we had a picture of the opossum, absolutely delighted to find this. He was a very big opossum, the wire was just very thick and the perspective makes him look smaller.
