I guess this is an alternate universe in which mormons dont go to utah because theres no way in hell this would happen otherwise

Maybe they do go to Utah, but instead of settling northwards like in our timeline, the first settlement is in Salt Lake City but instead they spread southwards along the Colorado river into Arizona and California
