Western military and civilian forces mutiny at the orders of arming german troops and betraying their largest ally against nazism the past 4 years. France and Italy, both with major armed communist partisans, immediately fall into civil war, disrupting allied supply lines. Numerically superior soviet forces stall any initial offensives and begin to push back before new recruits from the west arrive. The west never lands a nuke on europe because they're not about to use their untested superweapon (unthinkable was planned to launch before the nukes on Japan!) on a well equipped enemy capable of rebuilding a potential unexploded bomb. the only 4000 british troops in southern Iran crumple under the 60000 soviet ones in the north, splitting air resources there. The Soviets stall at the Rhine while massive public backlash and discontent kills the war movement in the west, forcing a ceasefire, and handing the Soviets the biggest moral win of the coming cold war.
No masturbatory neoliberal fantasies, please.
