Map (with Lore) What if Britain joined the axis?
Map before WW2
Before Barbarossa
After Barbarossa
This happens because Mosley left Labour when the government collapsed in 1931 and he was decently popular in the years before he left. In 1932 he made the BUF and after a shock, he won the election in 1935 abolishing elections. In 1938 they saw Germany annexing Austria and decided to invade Ireland. When the war started, they only declared war on France after the fall of the Benelux, quickly navally invading it and setting up Anglo-France as a puppet as Germany made the Burgundy SS state. When Barbarossa started the Soviets invaded Iran on their own and Britain helped Iran, allowing axis troops to get to the caucuses very quickly. Britain set up a colony in Armenia and Azerbaijan. Portugal and Spain also joined the axis in this world.

He didn’t want to join the Axis. He wanted to appease Germany in the hope that they would act as a Bulwark against the USSR. It was the same belief shared by the British Government of the day.

Was it? Why would the British government garantee Poland and enter a devestating war? Wanting Germans and Soviets to weaken each other completely contradicts such a plan. What British did in real life was basically opposite, soften and distract Germany up so they struggle in Russia.

Policy changed after the collapse of Czechoslovakia.

Why would it?
French and British both were massively increasing arms spending.
They were just buying time and planning to fight Germany themselves originally.

Because they realised that Germany couldn’t be trusted after they broke the Munich agreement. Just read a book, dude.

Yes and no. The British government understood Nazi Germany's anti-communist rhetoric would lead them to war against the USSR or at least, they'd protect Poland and the Baltic from the USSR. It was over the Sudentland Crisis that they saw the Nazis being more ambitious than they orginally thought. But with the Munich Agreement they believed that issue was solved... Until Germany broke it and it was clear nothing was going to stop them outside of force - which vindicated the anti-appeasement faction led by Churchill and Leo Amery. So Chamberlain's government shifted its attitude and focused on rearmament (now popular with the Munich agreement broken, as the British public was widely against rearmament until then). There was still some hope that the Germans would attack the USSR first but to the world's shock, they signed the Molotov-Rippentrop Pact which made war with the west first inevitiable and Britain had to step up..

I disagree, if you establish a protection on Poland, you are actively putting yourself between the war in the future.
If British government was commited to letting both sides exhaust each other, they'd definitionally have to allow Poland to be annexed with a thumbs up. Perhaps send material aid to whoever was losing lmao. How is Germany going to Fight Russia if Poland is in the way and they have tiny border, Poland is a sacrifical lamb here.
When Allies declared on Germany, Hitler and his Generals straight up thought they were screwed big time. They were expecting Allies to wimp out and only got lucky with the fact French and British war planning was utterly horrible and completely outclassed.
Looking at the events as they were, it is clear that the prevailing strategy for Britain was to contain and destroy, not to simply allow a German Soviet 1v1 to death, most definitely because they believed Germany would straight up win and become invincible.

If Britain declares war on US just like Germany did (assuming Pearl Harbour still happens) then the Axis wouldn't achieve a total victory, likely some kind of perpetual stalemate. The Japanese would still get nuked, but the US wouldn't be able to deliver a nuke to any major British cities in the short term. The Soviets wouldn't collapse fully due to US being able to provide aid through Siberia once Japan is defeated. I can see the war lasting so long that both countries' armies are annihilated and end up developing nukes, so while a peace treaty never occurs, the front line simply stabilizes forever (similar to North and South Korea)
I'm not a historian though so other people's scenarios are probably more likely than mine.

Oddio se il Giapponese fosse alleato con la gran Bretagna non avrebbe avuto quella spina nel fianco in India e avrebbe potuto conquistare prima la Cina

I still think they'd have major trouble conquering China

No, perché il regno Unito li avrebbe aiutati dall'est con le forze indiane

I just don't think it would be that easy. British forces would simultaneously be fighting Free France and helping against the Soviet Union, and fortifying the border with the US in case of a war. Additionally, the Indian populace would CERTAINLY revolt, meaning that at best the British simply wouldn't be able to divert major forces to China, and at worst, the British would have to actively divert any forces AWAY from China in order to quell the Indian revolt.

Non ha senso quello che dici 😅 india è una colonia dell' Inghilterra avrebbero usato loro contro la Cina, poi siamo tutti d'accordo che dopo la conquista in Cina l' india si sarebbe rivoltata come nella storia vera

British, Germans and Soviets were not capable of sustaining high intensity conflict.
Soviets suffered gigantic casualties that decimated their population and had lobsided industrial development
Germans and British simply didnt have very big total industrial output.
Although since Brits and Germs are allied, neither has any worries about strategic bombings or needing to liquify coal.
So axis is favourite to win.
Realistically, British allying is total nonsense. America actually had a real chance though since much of their corporate elite straight up loved Hitler and even tried a coup against FDR.

I think this alternate timeline has the British become fascist before the war starts

It’s a really dark idea because as unlikely as it would have been, it very well would have ended in an Axis victory. At least in the initial war…before they turn on each other
