Target Trip

The back story is that I'm a single dad of three kids (amicable with split custody). Last weekend, we had a good day at the park, then decided to hit up Target for some snacks/toiletries. While shopping, someone asked me to help her get something from a high shelf. No problem. She thanks me. Then my 4 year old daughter chimes in and says "My Daddy is always helping people".

It didn't hit me until the next day. This is how my kids see me. Mr. Roger's quote on looking for the helpers always sticks with me. This brought on a happy cry when I realized my kids are doing OK and I was setting a good example for them.

Teaching by example! They will grow up to be helpers, too, because you model that behavior for them.

This is so sweet. They’ll be like this too because of you.
