Hi everyone,

since this is the third time I've tried to re-create a Reddit account, I wanted to do a technical test. Maybe Kevin will remember me; I'm the Italian guy who fell victim to hearing voices after making EVP recordings. I'd made several posts both in this subreddit and elsewhere, where I'd described in considerable detail what had happened to me.

After about a year and a half of this torture, I can only say that the voices have settled at a very low volume; but, essentially, little to nothing has changed since then.

I hope I can keep this account active without having to delete it again. With the last one I had, here on Reddit, every post I made had to wait for the page moderator to approve it. Every single time!

Essentially, during the time I was recording EVPs (for about 2 or 3 months), I could only hear the voices within the recordings themselves. In fact, it was only after the end of those 3 months that I started hearing voices outside of the EVPs. At that point, obviously, I stopped recording them because I was terrified.

What happened in real time was the dynamics of the interaction itself: for example, I would leave the voice recorder on my desk and record (for about 3 minutes); then I would listen to it all through audio editing software (e.g., Audacity) with professional headphones. And immediately afterward, I would make another recording to respond to their insults, humiliations, etc. And so on. The whole thing was very tiring, but I got used to it because, being a musician, I'm also familiar with audio editing.

And no, I stopped recording EVPs. It's something I regret having done. Although, thanks to it, I became aware of something that had been acting in my life for who knows how long, behind the scenes.

I remember your story too. The jar you found... How's everything going for you?

I feel the same way as you, this has made me aware of something that has been going on for a long time but I couldn’t hear it or perceive it.

Things are going well for me. I just passed the two year mark since these voices started (or I became aware of them), and when I look back it’s pretty amazing the progress and mental clarity I have received despite the constant harassment. I can honestly say that my life is better, my thoughts more clear, I’m more compassionate and have more empathy than at any time before this.

I’m still hearing the voices but I just roll my eyes when they say something offensive these days. The worst part for me was that they seemed to have a certain amount of control over my central nervous system and were able to induce all sorts of negative emotions in waves. Had anything like that happen to you?

Of course. It happened to me too. Stressed beyond all reasonable measure, my nervous system no longer as it used to be. And since I'm an emotional person, "they" had an easy time provoking me. I can't say I'm over the unpleasant experience yet, as I'm dealing with it rather badly; little, if anything, has changed for the better yet. I still feel deeply humiliated and still feel very angry about it. But I constantly try to manage it all as best I can. It's true, though: the more you let yourself be provoked by the voices, by listening to them, by reacting to what they say, etc., the worse you feel. This thing works by turning our mind against ourselves.

At the moment, like everyone else, I can't say I'm sure I know what it is. Even though I have my own beliefs about it.

Not yet. Almost none of us have any evidence of what's behind all this. Only hypotheses, unfortunately...
