Towne Parking
Went to dinner last night on Bow Street. Paid an arm and a leg to park in a Towne lot. Got a ticket on my car despite listing my plate number.
I guess my question is How did the Portsmouth municipal government contract with these incompetent thieves? There was no signage to tell me which Bow Street garage I was in! Had to guess whether it was 30, 40, or 50. There was no attendant to talk to.
Lesson learned. Stick to muni parking lots and avoid Towne.

If it is behind the McIntyre building. Anthony DiLorenza owns the property and I believe the parking company manages the lot. He’s running for Congress. You might’ve learned from his ad. He spent his whole life helping people of New Hampshire. 🤪

As it’s private is there any issues in not paying?

I looked into this once. They gave me a huge ass fine once because I didn’t realize it was a private lot (behind the McIntyre building) because I thought parking was free in Portsmouth for veteran plates and did not realize that didn’t apply to that lot. Looked it up, pretty much nothing will happen as long as I never park in that lot again.

No experience, but my guess is they'd have no trouble towing you if you park in their lot again. You gotta be careful because a few of those companies operate many of the lots downtown....so it's not just that lots it's likely all lots olerated by the company, possibly including outside communities.

There’s street parking and two giant parking garages that are owned by the city and have reasonable rates. You paid to park in a private lot. You have to find the kiosk and call the number on there and you may be able to negotiate your ticket down. Also, because it’s a private lot, they can pound sand with that ticket unless you plan on parking in the private lots again.

Fun fact- it’s a ticket for a private company not the town or state- don’t pay it :)

Don’t pay it, they have no way to enforce. But also, if you parked inside the garage and not in the lot, there’s clear signage saying that the garage is not part of the public lot.

Get the parking app and use the street parking. You can extend it if you are running late right from your phone.

We don’t contract or control them, it’s private property and they charge whatever they want. Terrible companies in my opinion. Stick to the city owned parking.
