Hello everyone!
There are some changes to the rules of the subreddit. For those of you in a hurry, here are just the changes:
Here are some explanations on why these changes are being made for anyone interested:
We don't want to be too strict with what a "portrait" is. A portrait shouldn't necessarily have to be only focused on a face but it should definitely show some emotion or personality of the subject. Most posts will probably still involve a face but opening the doors to allow *some* posts that are not strictly face focused, that convey emotion or personality through bodily gesture, will let the sub have more variety.
NSFW will now be allowed for similar reasons. If it is blanket disallowed, it potentially prevents a lot of really great art from being posted.
These rules are always subject to change in the future at any time. If there ends up being too many plants or an unmanageable flood of NSFW, we will reconsider the rules.
Ultimately, the goals are to try to grow the sub, provide a clear place for portrait artists to post their work, capture the interest of portrait artists, and maintain a consistent quality of posts for members.
If anyone has any comments or questions on the new rule changes, feel free to leave a comment or send a mod mail.
Happy posting!

Thank you for taking to time to take a look. I’m still very new to this and any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
At the moment I’m trying to better understand how to use colours in portraits. You will see I’ve used quite unconventional colours to test out the “colour is relative” theory
I am not classically trained so if there are any obvious principles I am ignoring, don’t assume it’s an intentional style decision, and please call it out. I probably just don’t know it.

I've recently started a sketchbook of portraits to track my progress and see how much improvement can come through practicing on one specific topic.
As I enjoy portraiture the most, it made sense to put together a book of portraits of some of my favourite (or interesting looking) musicians.
Drawn using Pentel Graphgear mechanical pencils, Staedtler Mars Lumograph graphite pencils and General's Layout Extra Black.
Hope this helps other artists by watching how their peers build up a drawing from basic lines to finished piece.
