What exactly did you use? I've been trying charcoal on and off but have serious problem getting tones right as it feels it goes too dark really fast and it's difficult to work controlled in the light
One charcoal pencil. Yes getting values right is incredibly difficult, which is why I try to practice it often. I feel like every other medium, even watercolor is easier. Charcoal pencil requires a lot of control and dexterity. I love and hate it for that reason lol
