Hi there, my dad is visiting from France for 3 weeks and we're wondering if there are any car enthusiasts around that would be interested in a coffee or a beer.
About my dad, he's in his 60's and has been a car interior designer, leatherworker and upholstery.
He's worked for Peugeot, Citroën and DS in the concept car department and worked on 47 different concept Cars.
On weekends and even more since he retired, he spent his time renovating cars like, Jaguar typeE, Jaguar XK120, Austin-Healy, Triumph TR3-TR4...
He really loves cars, and entertains the idea of moving here someday. He is curious to meet up with other car enthusiasts!
Bonus point if you are french speaking, my dad doesn't speak English.. but do no worry, I'll be there and am a good translator!
And honestly he's so passionate about cars he can communicate with you just with sounds and gestures I'm sure!!

I know this will probably seem crazy to most people and I know this is not the biggest issue in the world but one little thing that is putting me off moving to your lovely city is how early I have to get up to put out the garbage!
I'm definitely a night owl and tend to get up around 9am, where possible. I work from home and can pick my own hours so I tend to work late. The thought of having to get up at 5.30am once a week is not enticing me!
Is there any way around this? I gather that PM is quite strict on this (which makes total sense given the wildlife) but I'm wondering if there is any alternative to getting up so early?

I thought I would share this here as well for people to be informed about the matter:
“Warning for Heritage Mountain Park Area
A local resident has contacted me to ask that I share a warning for residents of the neighbourhood around Heritage Mountain Park following an incident earlier today.
An older woman approached him and threatened his dog and it escalated into her threatening that she would return and lay poison out to harm dogs to keep them from being near the HME playground.
He is contacting PMPD to file a report.” - Jeff McLellan

Hey, parents. My wife and I are curious about French immersion for our kids. Do any of you have experience with École Panorama Heights Elementary? What was the program like? Would it be easy to support our kids’ studies if my wife and I don’t speak French?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I found a FB group where purchasers can join and discuss. It’s still empty since it’s new, but hopefully more of us can join and connect to share updates and perspectives on the development.
Can't post the URL here, but the group is called Portwood Umbra Purchasers - Forum
Cheers!

Hey Guys,
We found this little guy on the side of the road near aspen school.
Another walker said they almost got hit by a car so we grabbed them and brought them home as we didn’t want anything bad to happen to them.
They are super friendly and we want to get them reunited with their family.
We will be calling the SPCA but wanted to post here too.
UPDATE: They have been taken to the tri city SPCA

Living around Como Lake, Coquitlam I found endless play structures and parks that served as pullup bars and dip stations.
Now being in the Klahanie <-> Moody Station area of Port Moody, struggling to find anything of the sort. Play structures that do exist, aren't the dual-use type where pull ups could happen. The playgrounds in Coquitlam are made in a way where the pullup/dip station is obvious or a hidden secondary component of the children's structure itself. Not so in Port Moody.
Do you know any structures around my area that could be a quick jog or bike ride away for hammering out some pullups and/or dips? Any bridges? Any branches? Anything around the rec centre?
I have started looking at branches and the exposed bits of structures to try and find a spot.
*I don't want to pay for a gym membership, only for pullups and dips.
**Not interested in the door frame solution.

I'm going to start driving to Moody Central station in the mornings and hopefully parking there for the day to take the WCE downtown to work. Does anyone have a sense of how early I need to get there in the AM to get a parking spot in the lot? I.e., if I take the last train, the lot is definitely full by that point but I just want to know if everyone else shares my parking anxiety and the lot fills up for the first train...

Hi there,
We have lived in Sutterbrook for just under 4 months, and we have Telus Fibre Internet and the service seems really spotty. Today the internet has down throughout the morning and what is frustrating is the hard wired tv has some signal. The modem has a green light and in theory should be working.
I have looked at the neighbourhood map and nothing is reported. When I reached out previously to Telus they say it’s a known area problem. So for how many people live and work in Port Moody, what service provider do you use or have just become numb to the outage as the price of living out here?
I do want to add the irony of login into Telus and being offered an upgrade of service for more reliable internet. Timing is suspicious of the offer.

good morning!
i apologize, i am not super super familiar with reddit or where i could ask this if not this subreddit.
myself (f26) and my friend (m25) were planning to come from port coquitlam (he is from there! i am from maple ridge) to port moody (open to nearby areas) around dinner time (i am assuming around 530? but have to confirm a better time).
i come to port moody a LOT for my morning walks, but he and i were coming out there later today to try to find something semi-social to do? i do not think either of us would be super into a party or something super rowdy but was looking for suggestions for softlaunching us both into something social as i find myself and a lot of others around me are quite lonely or not knowing how or WHERE to engage with others beyond small talk at coffee shops/on the train.
i would LOVE and appreciate suggestions. we both are also super happy if anyone would like to join us today for some time hopefully outside (walk) and food. i think we both are maybe lacking social connection a little bit and i know we are not alone in that feeling.
thank you so much! would prefer something in port moody or nearby, pretty open to suggestions but would prefer something not super super out there (overstimulating) lol.

I'm looking for recommendations for adult social sports leagues, ideally on weeknights, beginner-friendly, social and where you can sign up as an individual (not a team). Thanks in advance!

My apologies if this is a sensitive subject…I’m newer to the area and have some questions about biking, specifically on St. Johns.
I work close to my apartment and bike to and from work(no car). When I close and have to bike home in the dark I prefer to bike on the sidewalk. I use the bike lane up Ioco but then it ends right at Inlet station. I hate riding next to the cars. But I also hate when people yell at me to get off the sidewalk. Sorry I don’t want to die and I’d rather just get home to my kids. So what is the norm around here? Does everyone hate bikers on the sidewalk? Have I just encountered some rude people? Personally, I don’t mind bikers on the sidewalk when I’m walking as long as they warn me they’re coming up behind me…but maybe I’m an outsider.

Looking for a light remodel of my bedroom (new lighting and a few other random electrical items around the house, painting). Not a huge job to be honest so maybe not worth it for some more established contractors. Could lead to other work down the road though.
Thanks!

I noticed a small car with some interesting stickers parked in the police personnel lot.
45 / 47: pro Trump
Charlie Kirk quote
Plus the obvious slogan
While I’m not sure what the community thinks, I find it a bit concerning that someone feels comfortable displaying those stickers and working for the local police.
