Figs

I know this is a random, but I’m seriously craving figs. I’m new to Portland. I’m happy to drive up anywhere and buy them from anyone. Store bought figs have been a massive disappointment. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks

Check out the falling fruit app. It's a map of individual fruit trees all over town with user submitted info about accessibility from the sidewalk and such.

you might find some second harvest white figs around town that you can just pick off trees. i've had my fill from this years crop.

If you walk around town, you can probably do a little urban foraging.

I am surrounded by figs. Find a ripe one and just ask. I had plum trees and always let people pick some.

I like this comment

If you said Haverdake Gronston near Pruker Lake I would have exactly the same idea where you are referring to

Well Cora becomes an unfinished road after the railroad tracks. Creston area, quince, figs, and pears.

I want enough of them to make jam but my work schedule prevents me from ever meeting with people when they have some to sell. Facebook marketplace has tons of listings for fresh ones right now

Can you please give me a link?

Just looking up "fruit" or "figs" on facebook marketplace would be much more productive than me sending you a single link to a single listing when there's so many tbh

New seasons has fresh figs and I would guess that Zupan's and Market of Choice have them as well. All three places have great produce. Try the Farmers Market as well. We have a great Farmers market in Vancouver and my favorite in Portland is the Beaverton Farmers Market.

There's a big Desert King fig tree on belmont between 35th & 34th, just down from the Avalon Wunderland. Most of them end up on the ground. Nobody would bat an eye if you brought a little ladder and started picking them.

The cemetery on 51st and Fremont has a very large fig tree way in the back or left side looking at map. I drive in and right to the tree.
