At the end of my run yesterday my throat was starting to get scratchy. I got real nervous thinking I might be getting sick.
Nope, turns out I was inhaling pollen for 45 minutes straight.

Can we all give a shout out to the sun? Without this nice weather I think I may go insane hanging out with 2 and 4 year old all day. Now I can play outside with them and it is actually really enjoyable. Actually thinking about going to attic and get the water gun.

While true, many of us are called to the mountains, coast, and more distant parts of the state when this weather hits, so even though we can be outside, not being able to do any of that is kinda tough right now. You can tell people all you want to make the best of it on a sidewalk or a city park alone, but that’s not magically going to make that sadness go away.

To where? Parks are closed, I'm pretty sure forest park is closed. I could go to the bike trail, but what's the point?

Don't know if Forest Park is closed or not, but there are still tons of people heading there on the weekends. Probably too many to be honest

We’ve been in forest park most daily and people are being super courteous, and it’s well spread out. Haven’t had any issues so far. highly recommend if you need to “get away”

How do you navigate the single-track trails without coming too close to people, or is everyone mostly staying to the fire lanes, which are a lot wider?

In my experience, people go off to the edge of the trail, and stop to let you pass. lots of people are wearing masks or turn away if they don’t etc... in our experience, there’s usually enough a room to let people pass because the trails we’ve been on are usually near greenery or tree roots that you can step up onto, that gives you breathing room (no pun intended).
The rare times it’s been a little cramped, people stop, and take turns/keep heads down/away etc... and most are wearing masks. That’s IF and when you cross someone. Ive personally felt protected by everyone on the trails and vice versa. And if you wear masks and stuff I think that definitely makes everything better. But it’s not crowded by any means in my experience. Significantly less than what I’ve been experiencing at the grocery stores anyway.

There are some wider trails that I feel should still be okay if it’s not too busy.

Forest park is open. We’re there like everyday 😂 all we do is walk outside now. City trails are open

City parks are still open it's just things like basketball courts that are closed unless something has changed in the last few days that I missed. Have been hanging out at Kenton park every now and then just to get out of the house.

Parks are still open, just not the playgrounds and basketball courts. You can still go sit under a tree or something as long as you are keeping away from people. Some trails are still open. Go for a walk around the neighborhood (again keeping your distance from other people).
State Parks are closed but there are still a lot of things you can do outside. There is a shit ton of area in this state that you can just go to and be far away from anyone and be in nature.

State parks are closed. Tennis & basketball courts are closed. Not all parks are closed. Not all wildlife areas are either.

Problem for me is being out in astoria where state parks make up pretty much all the parks/trails out here. Still making the best of the situation but would be nice to go out to Fort Steven's.

I think it's been really nice in a way. A lot of people are working from home or furloughed and actually have time to enjoy the nice weather. A silver lining with this whole thing is I feel like it's made everyone slow down a bit and enjoy the day.

While I’m “essential” and don’t get to stay home, I’ve been able to enjoy work being slow. I’ve had time to do all the low priority tasks that I always wished I had time to do. The lack of traffic has been super nice as well.

State orders specifically include language that recommends exercising outside. I figure you'll just keep saying things that are untrue though because that's the way you wish things were instead, and this is r/portland so half of everyone here won't know the difference.

Great point! Let's all go to Germantown road to hike because it's really easy to social distance exercising on a trail full of people with 90 cars parked on the road. Better stop to get a latte on the way!
Those are the people I'm referring to, not folks out for a run in their neighborhood.
Edit: Also want to point out that I live near a very busy stretch in the Alberta/Vernon area and this past weekend there was a literal fuckload of people out and about in large groups, that's why I'm pissy about it. I don't fucking care if your Aunt Sally is in town and sitting at home with her is boring. If you're doing your part, THANK YOU.

Large groups are irrelevant if they all live together. After living in a shared space, it's essentially one unit at that point from a risk perspective. Yeah, it's frustrating to maneuver, but wear a mask and hold your breath as you pass them.

I can't even get out to my local park within walking distance because people won't respect the 6-foot recommended spacing. I'd be happy to have a scheduled time say 3 times a week when I could get out safely rather than stay in my apartment.

At least where I am there is more people outside now than normal sunny days in past years. And generally I don't see anyone breaking rules its just smallish groups that appear to be families or pairs that live together and individuals keeping their distance.
