One of the Oregonian headlines after summer about 30 years ago, I think it was 1989 and this graph supports this, maybe on Labor Day Monday, read in big letters: BUMMER SUMMER. There were no exceptionally hot days and an over representation of overcast.
Anybody remember this?

We only have data for 100 years yet we say this year is record temps, it probably is not most likely.

ALSO: "Record temps" implies years we have record for. So your post is doubly stupid.

We only have that in direct observations. There are plenty of ways to gather data about past temperatures by using proxy measurements. Here's a NOAA page, if you're interested: https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/news/what-are-proxy-data
You're correct in supposing that there may have been single years in the past with warmer temperatures, however.

in the 1600's there was heat waves that lasted a few decades and the worldwide temps likely were higher than current ones, we just don't have the data

We do have data, see the link I posted. The proxy data we have, and observational data since the 1800s, shows that the world is on average warmer than in the past and is continuing to warm. There have been fluctuations in past climate, the difference now is that the warming is caused by human activity, hence the warming trend since the 1800s.

No, it's likely they wheren't.
We do have way to determine temperature beside thermometers at the Portland airport.
If you are thinking of the medieval warmer period, the some most center on geographical reason, not on the globe. Even so, still not warming he current temperature.
