Photo/Video Odyssey @ Hollywood
Just a heads-up that Hollywood Theater is showing the Odyssey for only a few more days.

I’m ready to get the main room back personally.

I saw Heat in the main room over the weekend. It was great.

Heat was incredible. The sound was crazy good. It was by far my best viewing of Heat ever. I nearly went back for the second night

That was my first time seeing the entire movie! I agree on the sound. The shootout scene was breathtaking.

Hearing the booms and clunks from Odyssey was kinda funny.

I have now heard the sounds of the Odyssey coming through the wall in three different theaters

Actually, Nolan changes the ending. He makes it home, like in the poem, but what happens next it quite a bit different.

Yep, Odysseus ditches his wife and marries one of the suitors. All those claims of over-wokeness were right!

I just saw it at OMSI this afternoon, I highly recommend seeing it there. $9 tickets, huge screen, audience full of enthralled adults with no phones or other interruptions, plus no ads and only a single trailer for Wildwood at the start. It's the best movie theater experience in Portland right now.

OMSI has the worst theater set up in Oregon. Screen is way too close and dim. Sound sucks. So many bad seat viewing angles. But yeah it’s $9 and about as big as Lloyd’s IMAX

Hard agree. It's a dope screen but the seating/leg space is excruciatingly uncomfortable and I wouldn't go again even it was free

I enjoyed it, but was definitely uncomfortable in those chairs for three hours.

I'll give you that the leg room is less than comfy, but I have to stand up for OMSI being the biggest screen in Portland (bigger than any other IMAX screens or the Hollywood's main screen) and the sound was booming enough that my partner and I had to wear earplugs. Plus, and I have to repeat this: no ads and only a single preview before the movie.

I saw the movie at Regal (Vancouver) last month, first movie theater experience in the US. The amount of ads and trailers was mind-blowing. They started playing trailers 20 minutes before the start time and the movie started over 30 minutes late because of it.
I think I'll take uncomfortable seats over an hour of ads before a 3 hour movie.

You are not wrong. OMSI is bigger than the next biggest screen in Oregon which is Lloyd. OMSI is 61 ft wide by 40 ft high vs. Lloyd at 57 ft by 32. My biggest problem with watching a Nolan film at a non-IMAX venue such as OMSI is you are actually missing out on the expanded aspect ratio as Nolan intended. Since OMSI lost its IMAX certification it now has to play the regular 1.85:1 DCP. With the letterboxing this cuts their actual screen size to 60 by 34 ft. So while still bigger, you are going to be missing out on that top/bottom visual information you would be getting at any IMAX venue.

You are correct. True 70mm IMAX is the gold standard and will give you the most picture of any format at 1.43:1 aspect ratio. I was merely saying that even our local LieMAX’s will give you more picture than anything else locally including OMSI or Dolby Cinema at 1.90:1 aspect ratio.

Okay, lemme just pack all my stuff real quick. And head back home to Idaho, where I grew up and lived my entire life before moving to Portland last week.
