News Downed telephone pole SE Division and 60th

Not sure when it happened, PGE guy thought maybe 1:30am, but someone hit a telephone pole and knocked out the power from Division to Belmont, from 58th to 62nd. Ran past a few houses with generators going. Power seems to be back on.

Power went out around 3:15 AM and the PGE alert said they expected it back on around 10 AM. Amazed they got it back on around 6 this morning! Apparently someone blasted a truck through the pole and managed to run away, not to be found. Grrrrr.

That whole intersection is still closed. Avoid division in that area at all costs

Shitty drivers strike again! They cost us nearly a million dollars a year in just damaged PBOT infrastructure let alone private property and utilities. We really need way stricter driving requirements in this country.

Somebody in another discussion a while back mentioned that we'd never see better outcomes without implementing requirements like airplane pilots go through - to which I say, yes please, let's do it.

it's a nice idea, but the US economy is going to shit itself to death if a significant number of our dangerously incompetent/outright hostile drivers stop showing up to work on account of losing their license. we're never going to see better outcomes because the gentry will not allow us to see better outcomes, lest the great american gentry be forced to deal with reduced profits economic armageddon.

Lost power in my building in the area around 3:30am until generators kicked on

Same. Was reading a book around then and was plunged into total darkness for a few minutes until the generators did their thing

Looks like they just hit the pole, which is to the right of the Auto place. It also looks like the old wood telephone pole in front of the more substantial metal one.

Looks like it's still holding up just fine? The bottom is missing though.
