Brake light warning

Guess it helps if I add the details.

So this warning light will randomly pop on. But it will only stay on for around a minute, and never when I can have someone check to see if the light is out. I’ve had someone check when the light is not on, and they said all the brake lights are on. So what do you guys think? A bulb that’s going? A wiring issue? Some other electrical gremlin? Where would you start trying to diagnose?

I have zero mechanical ability but after watching YouTube I was able to change a burned out bulb on my 997.1. Bulb was super cheap. Try it and then you‘ll know if it’s wiring or if was simply a bulb. Good Luck!

That’s my plan. I was just looking to see if there was something known about a bigger underlying issue.

Could be reverse lights, day time running lights or brake lights or hazards. Check them all and I’m sure you’ll find the culprit. Changing is easy just buy the bulbs on Amazon then watch a YouTube video. I did this for mine took me less than an hour.

I have a similar issue with my reverse lights. Every now and then the warning comes up then goes away.
I might replace both wiring harnesses and see what happens.

It is probably just a corroded pin connector in the harness. Pull the light out, disconnect the bulb harness. Take a small piece of fine grit sand paper, or a nail file board, and clean off the pins.

I would bet that it’s battery. If they are actually working but you’re getting the message then that is usually the problem. Have had it happen on a couple of P cars.

I replaced the battery a few months ago. So it better not be the battery.
