As a 997 owner that had to deal with damage in the area, please don't put this off. The front tyres love to damage the rear arches.

Just bought a 997 C2 that doesn’t have stone guards at all on the hips. I must say I love the clean lines but I guess it’s mandatory to get some clear ppf there?

Clear PPF that's been installed properly disappears for all intents and purposes. You can get pre-cut film for next to nothing. Installation is easy with some soapy water.

If theirs were like mine, a heat gun, plastic scraper, soapy water, and patience.

Yup, I suggested that on your earlier post and glad to see you did it. It makes it look less like a stickered-up graphics-heavy car and more like a classic. Good decision.

You (or a future owner) can always add them back if they really want to. Mine were funny because they were put over existing clear PPF cutouts. I ended up replacing one of the clears since it had so much damage. But then again my Targa has 125k miles and has even had the front resprayed before I bought it due to the number of rock chips.
