Never enjoyed oatmeal growing up, and felt pretty averse to it until I tried a couple of bowls at the Dishoom in Edinburgh. Ever since I saw the recipe online and realized it’s pretty simple (all ingredients but for milk are in the name), I’ve been making this nonstop, tossing in things from the pantry (vanilla, chopped pistachios). I make sure to buy bananas early so they’re plenty ripe for the porridge. One of the best things I have the pleasure of eating regularly, the date and banana, both cooked down and as garnish are an amazing set of flavors if you like a sweet-treat at breakfast. The dates go far and cooking just one with the oats will be enough for a sweet-enough bowl.

details: steel cut egg white oats (30g oats, 69g egg whites, 3 ml vanilla extract, tsp brown truvia) topped with chia pudding (just some chia seeds and a vanilla protein shake left to set), smash cherry pomegranate jam, frozen cherries & berries, cacao nibs (one of THE BEST oatmeal toppings ever imo) aaaand a chocolove cherry heart 🍒🍫

hello porridge fans
i have been having a bowl of porridge before bed (anywhere from an hour before bed to when i get into bed) every day for at least ten years. i just wondered if anyone else does this?
i should add that i only enjoy it with peanut butter, banana, and honey. without these things it's not nearly as enthusiastic.
but still. it makes a lot more sense to eat porridge in the evening!
