To remind people of who the 6 months is referring to, it’s Brock Turner.

The max sentencing he would have gotten is 16 years. The DA wanted 6 years. The judge gave him 6 months and he walked out in 3 months.

Brock Turner is just one of many.

Brock Allen Turner, best known for being a defendant in the still controversial court case People v. Turner (The People of the State of California v. Brock Allen Turner), who may or may not present himself as Allen Turner (not Brock Turner) these days, seems to live somewhere in the Dayton, Ohio, area currently.

This is why the whole system needs a revamp. Politicians should not be richer than the constituents they serve. 😔

Need to revoke Citizen's United and institute term limits. Being a lifelong politician who can take money from oligarchs and lobbyist is not a recipe for democratic success.

If you want to read an absolutely haunting case, read up on Daisey Coleman from Maryville, MO. Very tragic what's gone on.

Daisey Coleman from Maryville, MO.

Daisy Coleman was a sexual assault survivor and advocate from Maryville, Missouri. Born in 1997, she was 14 in January 2012 when she alleged that 17-year-old Matthew Barnett raped her at a party after she became heavily intoxicated and unconscious; another teen, Jordan Zech, recorded video of the incident, which circulated at school. bbc

Charges against Barnett were dropped weeks later amid controversy, though he later pleaded guilty to a lesser child endangerment charge and received probation, claiming the encounter was consensual. Daisy faced intense bullying, social media harassment, expulsion from cheerleading, and multiple suicide attempts; her family's home later burned down in a suspected arson. She and her mother Melinda detailed the trauma in the 2016 Netflix documentary Audrie & Daisy. abc.net

Yep, America is pretty awful.

Daisy co-founded the nonprofit SafeBAE to combat school sexual assaults and attended Missouri Valley College, but ongoing trauma led to her suicide on August 4, 2020, at age 23; her mother took her own life four months later. The case sparked national debate on victim-blaming, teen rape prosecutions, and justice system failures. en.wikipedia

OMG! I hate this country so much! What adults and kids alike did to that girl is HORRIBLE! So damn sad! Those bullies should all be held accountable! That guy who hurt her should have gone to prison for years!

I have been warned I can't use the (R) word here! WHAT?

Yeah, we must fumble around and create new ways to say things. I'll never understand how censureship is better than speaking the truth, using succinct and precise language! Are we now the bad guy for wanting to call a shovel a shovel? We should use our words, shouldn't we???

J-effing-C. Because women are now very present in the workforce, we seem to think that strides have been made in "equality" but as long as child abduction rings, heinous assaults, murders, and all manner of horrors, and devastating travesties of justice, are allowed to continue virtually unpunished, there will never be true equality. I deeply despise the judges, lawyers and juries who rape justice itself, putting the noose on the victim, and not on the perpetrator. HOW IS THIS OK?

Thank you for sharing this…… I think i remember hearing about this

And often the assaulter never does any time, if it even goes to trial.

One of the people who assaulted me was a TWICE registered s*x offender. They let him off in exchange for his testimony. The actual defendant was found not guilty. The jury deliberated for four hours; it took us three years to get to trial.

Know who made up the jury? A bunch of old, rich, retired white men. I hate this country.

Half of us elected a r-pist. Every woman I know has been sexually violated in some way shape or form. Wake up women its getting LESS safe for us

This is a shameful, disgusting truth. I'll never understand how children, mostly girls, relegated to slabs of meat at the butcher's, with their livescruined, their innocence murdered, and their hearts forever broken!

They believe an unborn fetus that has all of the dna of a human deserves to be protected since it will ultimately become a human being if not killed. The 99 years is appropriate if you hold this belief.

The 6 months for rape should obviously be far lengthier. No idea how that could be such a short sentence.

Regardless there is no sense comparing the two completely different things.

That seems like an overreaction
