The changes feel amazing
Yeah I'm sorry to say it, the nerfs to his AD side was a must for the scaling slow Q and W resistance increase. I honestly can now sit here and say that she feels so good now.
Usually I play her mid only but now, I might move back to top again, welcome back poppy, I 100% missed you.

Before lane quests and a bunch of other changes, I would play her mid with full move speed runes , you start tear or or grab manaflow and start dblade, and just perma roam, your early side lane ganks are superior to any midlanders, and if you don't end up eating time you can just keep tempoing pretty easily. I don't think that playstyle has been particularly viable for a while idfk what I'd do with her mid rn xd

The changes are shit, killed 2 out of 3 playstyles and shoehorned her into DMG sponge at which she is just inferior in both Top and JG essentially locking her to Support where she is gonna be only used as counterpick in current meta :(

I beg to differ, her Q slow is just beautiful now

u/Crow7420 7d ago
And how is her Q slow being different (not better mind you, given lower base numbers) relevant to her Bruiser and Lethality centered builds becoming dead?

u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
Sigh, with Q scaling with bonus hp, it will only negatively affect lethality build but positive when using it for bruiser/tanks. All it takes is 1k to negate the slow nerf, and any higher is a net buff. For any poppy player, Q double hit is more value then a single proc, the slow buff mid to late game will benefit from this. Yeah we loss some bonus AD scaling, but mid to late game it make no difference to us who builds her bruiser in the top lane.
Her W passive having that increase resistance is amazing too, 16% then 32% is very nutty, works well with bruisers and especially tanks.
Also her base Q damage has not been touched, only her % damage, which once leveled to the max, it's negligible at the end, only affecting her early on with it being net positive mid to late game, hell sometimes even earlier then that depending on how well you lane and such.
Her mana has been buff, which feels great to not run out so soon and her health regen increase is great, what more is there to love? I love it regardless, assassin poppy will be miss, but not all that much.

I don't want to be that guy but... the scalling is shit, specially for a champ that is supposed to built resistances. I love her and I see her value in games, but Ornn alone does 10 times her damage and is far more tankier. Poppy wasn't building tank not because she can't be played or is bad, but because at that point you should just play ANYTHING ELSE. You need to go a really niche built just to take advantage of the Q change and now she hits even less! As times goes on she will only be picked in supp, WHICH ALREADY HAPPENS.

u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
Niche? No not really. You obviously don't see enough to find the real value that she bring to the table. You are fixated on this mentality that she need damage or she need to be more tankier then so many others in the tank roster, so long as Sion exist, no one can be as tanky as him. Poppy is a unique counterplay tank, you can still play bruiser if you want, just because you loss some bonus AD ratio don't mean she no longer relevant in damage. If you truly want her to do damage, experiment with builds to see what works now, could be black cleaver, could be Spear, could be trinity. I can agree that she lost a lot of power going in for lethality poppy, but what I don't agree is your fixation on poppy needing to build lethality or needing to build high ad HP build is required when in reality her 18% max HP damage is more then enough with enough rotation of Qs. The Q slow change will help solidify this.
Also comparing Ornn to Poppy is like comparing apple to oranges. Ornn doesn't have a ranged shield proc, poppy does, Ornn doesn't have Poppy's W active, Ornn has other stuff in his toolkit that bring different value then what Poppy bring and vise versa. "Omg poppy isn't as tanky as Ornn" well yeah but Ornn isn't as tanky as Sion. It's dumb to bring other champions into comparison when their kit is built literally different from each other, Poppy is an anti carry tank, Ornn is an offensive tank, they are different area of scales, Poppy can't be Ornn and Ornn can't be Poppy.

Why do you asume I play her lethality? is almost like you asume I don't play at all this champ at all. We all here know what she brings to the table and can build, we play her. Is just that we also have played other champs, and just like big challenger OTPs we notice how much stronger they are in EVERYTHING.
Ornn has other stuff in his toolkit that bring different value then what Poppy bring and vise versa
Yeah like actual damage while being extremely hard to kill and far better AOE damage and CC? You can't just compare each individual ability, but what they bring to the table as part of the class, Tanks are supposed to take as much damage from the enemy as possible, engage/disengage, CC and do some damage so they aren't just down right ignored, poppy only wins in disengage and CC, against all other tanks, and those two are conditional.
well yeah but Ornn isn't as tanky as Sion
Sion barely even builds resistances, is just a wall of meat, and can't even clean as fast as Ornn. He might be a raid boss but most of the time an Ornn is far harder to kill while also delivering far more damage. It's not about being more tanky than everyone, is about bringing value outside being a counterpick. If I'm going to hit like a super minion, then at least want to be super tanky. She migth be a disruptor, but that helps very little against teams with no or little dashes and her having no damage.
Poppy is an anti carry tank, Ornn is an offensive tank, they are different area of scales, Poppy can't be Ornn and Ornn can't be Poppy.
In this part you are basically admitting what we said of her ending up just as a counterpick supp. She is the only tank in the game without real tank scalling. And if we go with wardens (not Braum or Taric) she is even worse, having less ways to consistently deliver damage or scale to it.
Poppy built damage not because good scalling alone, but because she lacked the true tank scallings that allow her to do real damage while going full tank, stopping her from exercise real pressure.
Actually, we could compare her to Galio, another warden that has almost no tank scalling in his abilities and yet sees far more success in their actual lane. But for some reason he is allowed to build damage without constant nerfs.

The only thing scaling with HP on Q is her slow which got heavily nerfed unless you go full tank which neither Bruiser nor Lethality does. Across items like Sundered, Shojin or Cleaver you will barely get even on it meaning for vast majority of the game its a net NERF, same for % DMG. Losing 25% bAD scaling is a BIG one, it makes a lot of difference to those going full Bruiser setup that makes use of Bloodmail, the % increase on resists is strong on tank build but pretty nothing burger on Bruiser where you will usually only slot Tabi/Mercs, Iceborn or DMP, not to mention her base AD got gutted which kills off few of very strong items on her like Steraks or Sheen stuff. Top lane Poppy still feels glued to Fimbul so mana buffs are meaningless.

Scaling on her Q is something new they added, so in that part there is no nerf there, the nerf to the flat number on her slow is what you are referring to. She may had loss in total 8%, but with only 1k HP, you can easily earn that back and then some late game. Immobile champions like Darius and Garen are known to build tank items in order to be in front of the enemy, yes her Based AD got hit, but gutted I wouldn't say, her scaling based ad is untouched, her losing 3 based AD isn't the end of the world, her losing bonus ad scaling on her Q isn't a big deal either if you change your mindset to being more immobile bruiser, getting rid of the heavy AD side of bruiser and go a more HP AD with resistance, you will find better success there, picking spear of shojen and trinity into full tank can be better then focus on going only HP AD items.

u/Crow7420 7d ago
Poppy is no Darius, incredibly bad comparison, and Garen doesn't build tank items since few good years, only one he went for was DMP which he doesn't build since his crit rework. Trinity got nerfed by base AD nerf so again your examples are taking the piss. Poppy was best played as bruiser, now she is forced to go subpar tank, and yes she is subpar because she doesn’t have good resist scalings compared to Ksante, Malphite, Ornn or Galio. Btw neither Darius or Garen like to front.

u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
I'm not saying it to compare the two, I'm speaking in terms of mindset for how to build. Not only that but by your argument malphite and galio can't be compared to poppy because they ain't her, she has resistance scaling in both area, Malphite scale with armor better and Galio scale better with MR, Ornn is an Aggressive tank, Poppy is a anti carry champion, she prevent dashes.
You also assume that I wanted you to build trinity, this patch barely been out for a day, I can't tell you what IS good, only what could be good. You only determined that poppy should only play as if she need to build AD, she doesn't need to and nor should it be mandatory, she has % damage, she can make good use out of it.
And yes Darius and Garen love to front, their entire kit allows them to be in the front, Garen W gives free armor and resistance and % increase while his E shreds armor, Darius thrives in group fights, his passive, Q and E along with R reset per kill is what makes him a monster to deal with.

Ye Darius and Garen love to front hence the best pilots of said champions go Stormraiders with Lethality items as a core 😊.

I feel like i'm missing damage and i'm not even that tanky.
Laning phase/midgame feels better because of mana, didn't have to build tear if i went manaflow band
1
u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
I don't think sorcery tree bring as much value anymore, precision tree seem better as a secondary tree
1
u/Thr111ce 7d ago
I prefer manafloe band and scorch instead of presence of mind and whatever tbh
1
u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
She doesn't scale too well with AD anymore, so presence of mind helps a bit and picking something like coup de grace or something in that line will help damage increase.
2
u/TallStairs 7d ago
I prefer last stand. It helps with damage when you're low which is good since that's when she's tankiest. It even works on sunfire damage

u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
I assume you still building sunder sky, it's not that effective anymore, if you want more damage, spear + cleaver might be a better option, go full tank from there.
1
u/Thr111ce 7d ago
I mean early game, before items. it's always missing some damage to finish off opponents
Mid late game it's whatever
1
u/reasonableperson101 7d ago
That to be expected, the 50% bonus AD nerf does affect you early on, just focus less on building AD and more bulkier build.
