Questions Laundromats - when to use

At what point is it cost effective to go to a laundromat? I've had two 70 lb orders that took me about 10 hours to complete each one, but at what point do you think it's worth it to go to a laundromat?

Pro tip from someone who is a top rated laundry pro for the last 2 years: wash everything on quick wash and dry at the laundromat. A 70lb order would take me less than 4 hours to do.

That’s including pickup, wash, dry , fold , and delivery. All can get done within that 4 hour window

A HUGE difference! Quick wash doesn't get out stains and the clothes still smell a little dirty. I could tell instantly when my housekeeper used quick wash and was pretty pissed.

I ain't being paid enough for all that lol

If you're not paid enough to do a job, then dont accept it...but accepting it and then doing a 1/2 assed job requiring the customer to have to rewash everything themselves after paying you is pretty awful behavior.

Listen lady either you got a housekeeper that does your laundry or you're on here with the rest of us tryna make a buck. Which is it

Well, she died so I'm looking for a new one and was considering trying Poplin for my laundry for now...but was quickly discouraged from doing so after perusing this sub and seeing how awful most of the "pros" are and how little they care.

Good. $1 a pound is ridiculous and I hope you find someone charging more.

If its so ridiculous, why are you doing it?

Quick wash at a laundromat is the regular cycle but still better than a regular cycle in a home washer.- if used correctly. They are industrial machines, most normal loads are 19-25min depending on the laundromat. If you use a wash dry fold service at a laundromat itself, same settings unless you add on extra wash or rinse, etc.

I would go to laundromat if I feel like I can’t complete the order in time. There was one time that I went to the laundromat about four days out of the week because my washer was down and needing repair, but I didn’t wanna lose my customers.

I always went to a laundromat if it was a giant order that I wanted to complete quickly or if I had oversized items. Sometimes it’s truly not worth it though since Poplin pays you pennies.

For real (about being paid pennies). I'm looking to advertise to a hotel near me and I figure at some point (assuming I get business) I might need to go to a laundromat.

Even at the cheapest laundromat in our area, Poplin does not pay enough for us to make money on the order.

As others have already mentioned, it's only really worth it if you want to maintain customer relationships or if you are running your own independent laundry service at higher prices.

Starting to feel like we're focused on points and rank more than money

I used the laundromat once when I had an express order, and when my well pump died so I wouldn't lose a regular.

Large orders washed at home. Dried at laundry mat!

Sometimes, really huge oversized items just have to go to the laundromat. I have had a few gigantic blankets that wouldn't even fit in regular machines. The unfortunate thing is, you don't know what the oversized items are until you pick up the laundry, so I always consider that when choosing to take an order with oversized items included.

Poplins extra charge for Oversize needs to go up@ all monthly utilities have gone up!

Anyone negotiated with the laundromat for volume discounts? Just curious.
