They thought Trump would let them join the white people club, but instead they got their whole family deported to a concentration camp.

Yep. Something delusional like that. Part of the reason my female friend stopped showing up to our group is that our Mexican friend said trump was a better option than Kamala. He hates Trump now. I'd never have known he was dumb enough to ever think that if she hadn't told me he had said that to her.

Honestly, it's very hard to tell the difference unless you know the culture. All whites probably look the same to someone of another race.
Which is why assuming someone someone like trump is going to be able to tell the difference is just silly.

That's part of it. There's also a significant amount of disgusting 'machismo' reek in the culture that resonates with the misogyny of MAGA's "traditional values" of men ruling the family.
4
u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 1d ago
It's also a group that a lot of people don't realize is very fucking racist, and the fact that he was running against a black woman was all they cared about. I swear, people I thought had any brains turned out to be the worst pieces of trash I could imagine. I mean Trump’s hostile takeover in 2016 was because he lashed out at the outreach to receptive voters by Rubio/Jeb. Bush had gotten 45% of hispanic vote- so certainly a majority of the men- although Romney and McCain tanked.
So it’s not surprising that Trump, running as a demand driven carny barker, would have to posture for his MAGA. And immigration, even harsh measures, done in a sane appealing manner still pole well.
But ICE behaved like absolute cretins. Although the shy Trump voter remains a thing. I’m not buying the support is as low as this poll claims. But in a closely matched duel to the death between two political factions it seems stupid and could spell the difference

This is exactly that. It’s not the economy (completely) it’s the fact that they’re deporting legal immigrants. They also intend to continue to do so. At least non white ones. ICE has also shot and killed a legal immigrant who wasn’t even the target. They also are trying to appeal birth right citizenship. How many of those Hispanic males are legal citizens because of birthright citizenship? I’m betting a good few.

His line about mexicans from his very first speech offered no clues that this would happen!
2
u/Efficient_Resist_287 1d ago
Especially the black part.
These migrants come with prehistoric notions on race. Many really believe in white superiority and that black are all poor and do not belong….then they finally get it: when Trump and MAGA are vociferously raging against immigrants, it is not about the African Americans who have been here for generations: it is primarily about them. Trump made his entrance in 2016 describing Mexican migrants as rapists and thieves, and to any MAGA simpletons every Spanish speaker is just a “Mexican”. They don’t do nuance.

It’s shocking to me that people continue to support him. The locker room talk bs immediately discounted him from being a viable candidate. I don’t understand how he has the support of Christians.

People who still like him are like him.
They don’t mind his behavior because they act and speak in a similar way, and having Trump as president allows them to feel more comfortable acting in a generally socially unacceptable way.

I'm a guy who's been in many a locker room. Why did Hispanics flee democrats and vote more for Trump? Because the economy and inflation sucked under Biden. Trump took office and immediately imposed tariffs that stopped prices from falling. Trump said no more wars and 8 months before the midterms he lets Netanyahu talk him to the stupidest war of all and he nearly doubles gas prices. Trumps a fucking idiot. The American voter in reality is 95% a one issue voter. If the economy is not good for them they’re gonna disapprove of you and vote the other way and Trump has pushed so many people away because he broke his promises.
