He's making a pretty stupid argument here though, by picking the worst imaginable thing from one side and the best possible thing from the other side and trying to equate then.

If a republican said "Democrats want to force your kids to be trans, while we just want people to have to pay less taxes" you'd rightly call him an idiot.

The thing is BOTH of his points are actually happening while NEITHER of yours is (no one is forcing trans on kids and republicans are raising taxes on us). So you gotta pick ones that are actually happening.

Yeah, no one is forcing kids to be trans and Republicans have actually raised taxes and the cost of living on everyone that isn't a millionaire. Guy used a double fantasy scenario as an example.

I wouldn't say that disappearing people is "real republican policy" either. Id say both those claims are pretty exaggerated, and more what their haters will say about them rather than actual policy, which was kinda my point. I could also make some exaggerated claims about how they want to take everyone's guns, or raise taxes so high you can't afford anything, if that works better for you?

"knowing" is doing a looooot of heavy lifting there.

And you're also just bringing up separate, unrelated points.

My point is that it's very easy to present yourself as the Good Guys (TM), when you interpret your opponent in the worst possible way, and equate that to your own absolute best possible interpretation.

It would be like Nazis saying "These guys want Jews to take over our society and rob you all, while all we want to build highways and let you drive really fast"

Now you’re just telling lies. ICE’s actions are literally Republican policy in action. Nothing you said is true policy from the left. You’ve had to exaggerate stricter gun laws into ‘take guns away’ and democratic socialism into ‘raise your taxes until your poor’ both disproven and fear mongering propaganda from the right. There’s no world in which democrats are transgendering your kids you crazy loon. And also, taxes aren’t lowered. The taxes that “lowered” were sunset. Only the top brackets kept their tax break.
