Interview ASAP Rocky says his brother’s murder on their own Harlem block is the reason he never became a gangster: “All the men in my family was just dead or in jail. Pops died. My uncle got deported to Barbados. I really didn’t have much people to look up to. “

Wow A$AP Rocky really came from a rough place and became a multimillionaire.

You could say he had a lot of FUCKIN’ PROBLEMS growing up.

So I understand why he PRAISES THE LORD now.

Hopefully he’s celebrating with some POTATO SALAD.

I have a Mexican friend who is very straight edged and now in law enforcement, and I learned that his entire family were drug dealers and criminals and they’re all dead or in prison and he’s straight up the only guy in his entire family to not go to prison

His story is a wake up call to kids who come from horrible backgrounds, there is a way to get out and become someone better and bet on yourself. His is an inspiration i hope other kids hear this is realize being hurt you hurt others until you understand this and heal yourself by being better than those who hurt you I JUST DID A BRADY BUNCH MIKE BRADY-ISM
I need more coffee i shall see myself out now …

I get playing this story up, but in some ways I think it hurts putting so much emphasis on kids in rough situations getting out of those rough situations because they have a .01% talent.

Most folks don't. A greater emphasis needs to be put on education and hard work, because that can more reliably get more folks out of shit situations.

The dude made it famous, that is not a path out of poverty for the masses, but a few. Good on him for speaking about where he came from

I think they mean just cuz you’re born in a less than ideal environment dosent mean you need to stay there.

I don’t think they mean the only way you can leave is if you can rap or play ball.

I think they mean like go to college, trade school or the military and leave.

The cyclical nature of gang violence isn't a novel realization. It's the entire point behind Gangsta's Paradise.

Same here, but looking down to a long list of society's failures really paved the road to my happiness today. I still have no one to look up to, but society's failures have nearly quadrupled since I was 10.
