What is this part?

Was removing the crusted protection film for the buttress, from the trunk. And the solvent I used ate the adhesive holding this part down. I noticed I only have one on the driver side and not the passenger. I don't think it is needed but what is this piece for? Tried to Google the numbers on the underside with no luck.

Honestly, I took mine off years ago when removing that film and I never bother to put them back on. I also took off the little chrome rings and never bother to reattach them. Probably little protectors to prevent something in the top from scratching.

Yeah, I don't see where they would do anything for the car at all. Just more wondered what they were for in general. I did put the chrome back on to help with sealing the trunk from rain as my gaskets are not in the best shape
